The Impact Of Decimalization On The Consumer, Christa Venhuizen Jan 2001

The Impact Of Decimalization On The Consumer, Christa Venhuizen

Honors Capstones

The purpose of this study is to examine how decimalization affects the volume of stocks traded on the stock exchanges in the United States. Many analysts and policy makers believe that decimalization will increase the volume of shares traded per day, because the market will become easier to participate in due to the ease of comparing stock prices. However, few studies have been done on this topic in the United States. A sample of 80 stocks from the New York Stock Exchange was chosen for this study. Volume information was collected for a period of 10 days before and 10 …

The Reasonable Girl: A New Reasonableness Standard To Determine Sexual Harassment In Schools, Carrie L. Hoon Jan 2001

The Reasonable Girl: A New Reasonableness Standard To Determine Sexual Harassment In Schools, Carrie L. Hoon

Washington Law Review

The U.S. Supreme Court held in Davis v. Monroe County Board of Education that schools may be liable under Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments for student-to-student hostile-environment sexual harassment. Although the Court required that conduct be severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive to qualify as sexual harassment under the statute, it did not establish an objective reasonableness standard to evaluate allegedly harassing conduct. In the context of Title VII employment-discrimination jurisprudence, some courts apply a reasonable-woman standard to determine what conduct is objectively hostile or abusive such that it constitutes actionable hostile-environment sexual harassment in the workplace. Middle-Ear Function With Tympanic-Membrane Perforations. Ii. A Simple Model., Susan E. Voss, John J. Rosowski, Saumil N. Merchant, William T. Peake

Engineering: Faculty Publications

A quantitative model of the human middle ear with a tympanic-membrane ~TM! perforation is developed. The model is constrained by several types of acoustic measurements made on human cadaver ears, which indicate that perforation-induced changes in transmission result primarily from changes in driving pressure across the TM and that perforation-induced change in the structure of the TM and its coupling to the ossicles contributes a substantially smaller component. The model represents the effect of a perforation on the pressure difference across the TM by inclusion of a path for sound coupling through the perforation from the ear canal to the …

All twenty students were assessed using the Secord Contextual Articulation Tests (S-CAT) (Secord & Shine, 1997) at the beginning and end of the study. For internal validity, study propositions provide information regarding precision of definitions, measurements, associations, confounding factors etc. that are considered in research. While for external validity, propositions form the premise for the deduction of inferences. The aim of this article is to help readers understand the propositions that are made in research. This article discusses those propositions, which are relevant to medical research.
