Relationship Marketing Acceptance And Marketing Effectiveness, Heng Wa, Oliver Lau
Relationship Marketing Acceptance And Marketing Effectiveness, Heng Wa, Oliver Lau
Lingnan Theses (MPhil & PhD)
Following the advancement of information technology and the technological trend of doing business, many companies have shown intentions to enter into the electronic business and invest in customer relationship management. The combination of electronic commerce and customer relationship management will be the hottest issue in the future development of Hong Kong. In addition to the highly competitive environment in local consumer product market, explores the importance of relationship marketing development in Hong Kong. However, although much literature has been published in this area, only a very small amount of studies has focus on their discussion on the business-to-business relationship area. …

Living Environment And Residential Satisfaction Of Older Persons In Hong Kong : A Comparative Study Between Sha Tin New Town And Wan Chai Old Urban Area, Wai Man, Avis Loo
Lingnan Theses (MPhil & PhD)
The living environment of older people potentially has many influences on their well-being and later life and perhaps especially so in rapidly changing environments such as in Hong Kong today. This research attempts to compare and contrast the experiences and attitudes of older persons living Hong Kong in private housing in old urban areas and public housing estates in new towns, in terms of their environmental conditions, residential satisfaction and patterns of behaviour. It also investigates the risks and hazards that the older persons face in their daily living environment and suggests possible improvements in terms of planning and design. …

Swallowing Injustice To Build Community: Latin America After The Era Of State Terror, Tom J. Farer
Human Rights & Human Welfare
From the mid-1960's to the late 1980's (even later in certain countries), militarized governments in most of Latin America enforced their view of a desirable public order by terrorizing great numbers of citizens who happened to have different views and also their friends and relations and persons who, whatever their views or lack thereof, objected to terror as a means of governing.

Effects Of Adapted Storybooks On Vocabulary Acquisition Of Children Who Have A Severe Speech Impairment (Ssi), Wendy Ann Peterson
Effects Of Adapted Storybooks On Vocabulary Acquisition Of Children Who Have A Severe Speech Impairment (Ssi), Wendy Ann Peterson
Dissertations and Theses
Research has shown that children who are typically developing have the ability to rapidly learn (fast map) and receptively identify novel vocabulary words presented in the context of storybooks. It has also been shown that repeated exposure to the stories increases the amount of information, or the number of vocabulary words, acquired by the child. Furthermore, studies have shown that children learn more when they are actively rather than passively involved in the learning process. However, little is known about how children who have a severe speech impairment (SSI) fast map new vocabulary in storybook reading contexts, or how active …

Collaborative Agent Design (CAD) Research Center
The Integrated Marine Multi-Agent Command and Control System (IMMACCS) is a multi-agent, distributed software system, designed to provide a Common Tactical Picture (CTP) with integrated and meaningful decision-support facilities to authorized operators at any access node. IMMACCS has been implemented as a three-tier architecture that distinguishes between information, logic and presentation. It utilizes an object-serving communication facility with subscription and multi-casting capabilities that is based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). With an emphasis on application, IMMACCS was designed and implemented in concert with its military users as an integral component of experiments conceived by the Marine Corps …

Method And Apparatus For Adaptive Filtering By Counting Acoustic Sample Zeroes In Ultrasound Imaging, Gregory R. Bashford, Edward D. Nonnweiler, David D. Becker, David John Muzilla
Biomedical Imaging and Biosignal Analysis Laboratory
An ultrasound imaging system having an adaptive spatial filter the filter coefficients of which, for particular image parameter sample, are determined by counting the number of neighboring image parameter samples having zero or near-zero values. If the number of zero or near-zero values in a data window is greater than a predetermined threshold, the data in the window is passed, not filtered. This filter has two advantages over other spatial filters. First, image parameter data samples having only zero or near-zero neighboring values (i.e., isolated "point noise") are not smeared. Second, boundaries such as the edge of color in a …

Process For Separating Hazardous Metals From Waste Materials During Vitrification, Denis A. Brosnan
Process For Separating Hazardous Metals From Waste Materials During Vitrification, Denis A. Brosnan
Clemson Patents
A process and system for separating metals from a waste composition and for producing a reusable glass product is disclosed. The process includes heating waste materials containing at least one glass forming substance to a temperature sufficient to volatilize any volitile metals contained within the waste material. The waste material is also heated to a temperature and for a time sufficient for substantially all of the glass forming substances contained within the material to melt and form a molten glass. In one embodiment, the waste materials are heated in a reducing atmosphere in a direct contact radiant heating device, such …

Multi-Wavelength Polarization Scrambling Device, James R. Stimple, Dennis J. Derickson, Eugene Rudkevich
Multi-Wavelength Polarization Scrambling Device, James R. Stimple, Dennis J. Derickson, Eugene Rudkevich
Electrical Engineering
A polarization scrambling device randomly varies the polarization states of multiple applied optical signals. The scrambling device includes a polarization scrambler coupled to a wavelength-dependent polarization randomizer having cascaded birefringent elements in which the axes of polarization of the cascaded elements are rotationally offset. The scrambling device causes random variations in the relative and the absolute polarization states of the applied optical signals. The birefringence, lengths, and number of cascaded birefringent elements are chosen to assure that the polarization states of optical signals at the different wavelengths are sufficiently randomized, even when the applied optical signals are closely spaced in …
