The Putdown: Intergenerational Communicative Dynamics Of Male Characteristics In The Plays Of August Wilson, Bryan C. Moore

Most African-American playwrights use realistic dialogue and monologues in their plays to share messages and stories about African-American culture, history, and society with others. One of the most popular and successful African-American playwrights today is August Wilson. His plays are a plethora of storytelling, and makes use of strong dialogue. Wilson displays elements of African-American culture and history in each of his plays, mostly through interaction and conversations between the characters. Wilson's plays are part of a larger project known as the twentieth-century cycle, in which each play represents a decade of African-American history and culture.

Comparative law and legal anthropology have for long theorized on the basis of a traditional geography which saw states, regions, locales and social fields as having durable boundaries containing stable and homogenous cultures. This idea of place is now undergoing a massive transformation in response to the effects of and theories about globalization. The emerging ‘process geography’ rejects these traditional ideas, arguing that they are not, and indeed have never been aspects of reality, which is better represented by an imagery of processes. However, it is argued here that globalization is not a synonym for homogenization, nor has place suddenly …

Single-Sex High School Choice And African-American Girls Why Do African-American Girls Choose And Stay At A Single-Sex High School?, Gabrielle Dobel

The aim of this study was to investigate the choice of a single-sex school for African American high school girls and their families. Additionally, their reasons for staying at the school were also examined. Six African American seniors and three of their mothers were interviewed. All girls attend a single-sex high school in the East Bay Area of Northern California. An extensive literature review was compiled as well. Tire literature review focused on sexism in coeducational learning environments, experiences in single-sex schools and choosing a single-sex school. The Importance Of Being Biased, Anthony M. Dillof

The war against bias crimes is far from finished. In contrast, the battle over bias-crime laws is largely over. Bias-crime laws, as commonly formulated, increase the penalties for crimes motivated by bias. The Supreme Court has held that such laws do not violate the First Amendment. Virtually every state has enacted some sort of biascrime law. Even the federal government, which may consider itself without power to enact a general bias-crime law, has made bias a sentence-aggravating factor for the range of federal criminal offenses. Student Works (2000-2009)
Lao She (1899-1966) was one of the greatest realist writers in modem Chinese literature. His achievements had won him high acclaim in the literary world. Apart from his novels, poems, critiques and essays, he was also known for his many excellent dramas, where he showed his talent in character portrayal. Most notably, he succeeded in creating vivid male and female roles with unique individual traits. The focus of this research is the various female characters in Lao She's modem dramas.

Constitutional review is the activity of measuring action choices of governments against a pre-existing set of publicly known or ascertainable, "higher" norms for the conduct of government. Anyone can do it: chief executives pondering vetoes or preparing state messages; legislators contemplating legal change; police chiefs reviewing department manuals; school board members debating curriculum guides; city planners routing highway expansions; citizens lobbying and pundits castigating any or all of the above; dinner partners talking politics; candidates running for office; voters turning out rascals.
