One would be hard-pressed to identify a more extolled, and storied, aspect of the Anglo-American legal tradition than the writ of habeas corpus. Tracing its lineage back to the Magna Carta, the Great Writ was so revered by the Framers of the U.S Constitution that they expressly prohibited its suspension except in times of extreme governmental distress. Writing in 1868, Chief Justice Salmon Chase characterized habeas as "the most important human right in the Constitution," the ''best and only sufficient defense of personal freedom." Justice Brennan, writing almost one hundred years later, observed that the history of habeas "is …

The aim of this study was to evaluate the design of the "Basic HTML Web Site" (LWAH) which included learning the basic language script of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). HTML is the main language of instruction protocol in sending and receiving information (such as texts, graphic, animation and audio) via Internet. The study on LWAH is divided into three parts that is instructional design, interface design and screen design. A total of 26 Masters in Education students were involved in this study. The Independent Counsel (IC) statute, designed to restore public trust in the impartial administration of criminal justice after Watergate, ultimately fueled rather than quieted the perception that partisan politics drives the investigation of high-ranking government officials. Congress, in an inspiring display of bipartisanship, bid it a muted farewell. The statute's fate was sealed by the enormous controversy surrounding the investigation conducted by Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr.

This study examines the impact of unfavorable media coverage on the stock market prices of major food companies, an issue of increasing importance to the food industry. The study focuses on the 16 April 1996 Oprah Winfrey Show, a popular television program that raised questions about the safety of the U.S. beef supply. The show resulted in considerable controversy, and some cattle feeders blamed the show for a drop in cattle prices. The focus of this study is on the impact of the program at other stages of the food system. We examined the stock returns of two major beef …
