Private Well Owners Pay Price As Mtbe Contamination Exposes The Lack Of Groundwater Protection In Federal And New York Law , Todd A. Frampton
Pace Environmental Law Review
Since 1992 Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) has been routinely added to gasoline in response to the Clean Air Act amendments of 1990, in an attempt to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. MTBE production has become a multi-billion dollar industry, as it now makes up 85% of the reformulated gasoline market. Although the health risks posed by the seemingly omnipresent chemical are still being debated, MTBE is highly soluble in water and when introduced to groundwater, it is devilishly difficult to remove. This article explores the potential federal and New York State laws that could provide a legal remedy for MTBE …
Attentional Processing In Parkinson's Disease: Hyperkinetic And Akinetic Type, Christine Diane Kraus
Attentional Processing In Parkinson's Disease: Hyperkinetic And Akinetic Type, Christine Diane Kraus
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Parkinson's disease (P.D.) has long been thought of as a single disorder. Recent research involving neurochemistry, neurophysiology, and detailed analysis of symptoms, have created a basis for questioning the concept that P.D. is a singular disorder. Literature suggests there may be two primary subtypes (with the possibility of others). The two probable subtypes are hyperkinetic, in which tremor is the predominate symptom and akinetic, in which, gait freezing and postural instability predominate.
In both of these pathological manifestations, several investigators have noted cognitive deficits including attention. The differences in symptomotology and neuropathology attributed to these probable subtypes suggest that there …

Measuring The Economic Impact Of The Federal Government Budget: 1995-2000, S.I. Doguwa, A. Englama
Economic and Financial Review
This paper presents a relatively simple method for analysing the effects of fiscal policy through the use of a set of weights for the various budget-items. The method provides separate measures of the effects of a given budget on aggregate domestic demand and on the balance of payments. The results of the analysis indicate that the Federal Government budget had a larger contribution to aggregate domestic demand from 1995 through 1999. However, the magnitude of improvement in the balance of payments in 1998 was much lower than the previous and subsequent year. In addition, the expansionary fiscal policies of 1997 …
Empirical Analysis Of The Demand For Petroleum Products In Nigeria, E.A. Onwioduokit, A.O. Adenuga
Empirical Analysis Of The Demand For Petroleum Products In Nigeria, E.A. Onwioduokit, A.O. Adenuga
Economic and Financial Review
The paper identifies the various variables in the consumption framework for policy simulation purposes regarding energy planning in the country. Elasticities were also estimated for proportions of GOP contributed by agriculture, manufacturing and seNices. The empirical findings reveal that urbanisation was one of the principal factors that has a positive impact on the consumption of liquified petroleum gas and premium motor spirit. The impact of urbanisation on the consumption of household kerosene is negative, showing that kerosene is not urbai"lisation elastic. The policy implications of the findings include the need to keep track of the proportion of the population moving …

Irrigation District Service In The Western United States, Charles M. Burt, Stuart W. Styles
BioResource and Agricultural Engineering
Data were obtained from 61 agricultural districts within the Mid-Pacific Region of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation regarding the level of water delivery service provided to users, water pricing, associated characteristics, and plans for modernization. A flexibility index was developed and used by the writers to characterize the degree of water delivery flexibility provided by each district. The flexibility index provides a rating of 3–15 (15 being the highest value) based upon the frequency, rate, and duration of irrigation water delivery service to farmers. The data show that 42% of the districts received a flexibility score of 12 or greater, …

A New Regional Household Demand System For Gtap, Robert Mcdougall
A New Regional Household Demand System For Gtap, Robert Mcdougall
GTAP Working Papers Archive
The GTAP final demand system has some known defects: the computation of the equivalent variation is not exact; with non-standard demand parameters, the equivalent variation may be grossly in error; the decomposition of the equivalent variation contains a nuisance term.
We find a further defect, that the upper-level demand equations are invalid. We revise the model to remove these defects.
