The Department of Defense (DoD) needs multilevel secure (MLS) workflow management systems to enable globally distributed users and applications to cooperate across classification levels to achieve mission critical goals. An MLS workflow management system that allows a user to program multilevel mission logic, to securely coordinate widely distributed tasks, and to monitor the progress of the workflow across classification levels is required. In this paper, we present a roadmap for implementing MLS workflows and focus on a workflow builder that is a graphical design tool for specifying such workflows.

The Experience And Meaning Of A Marianist Education Today: A National High School Study Of Mission And School Culture, Carolyn Ridenour, Alan Demmitt, Jill L. Lindsey-North

Educational Leadership Faculty Publications

Focus groups conducted with students, parents, teachers, and alumni (N=540) at 13 Catholic Marianist high schools provided rich insights into the experience and meaning of the education provided at these institutions. While academic excellence was a common thread woven across meaning given by both parents and teachers, students and alumni articulated a meaning replete with images of belonging. That these schools valued persons holistically (rather than solely academically) permeated most groups. Using theories of organizational culture as the foundation, the relationship between missions and the meaning of life in these schools is discussed.

Editors note: What follows is a condensation of a presentation to the Adirondack Conservation Council on December 13, 1998. While focus is on wolf recovery in the Adirondacks, the pros and cons of the issue are germane to other locales in the United States.

It is a rather daunting task to try to build a wolf recovery partnership, given the climate of public opinion among Adirondackers about wolf recovery. But try we must.

In this paper I will propose six principles governing the proper role of moral and social values in the conduct of scientific uivestigation. I offer them for your consideration, and hope that together we can sharpen their formulatton, explore their implications and test their acceptability. Stand Structure And Productivity Of The Rhizophora Mangle In Hawaii, Evelyn F. Cox, James Allen

Since its introduction in the early part of this century, Rhizophora mangle L. has spread extensively through most of the main islands of the Hawaiian Archipelago. We investigated the structural properties and estimated productivity of a R. mangle population at Nuupia Ponds Wildlife Management Area (NPWMA), on windward Oahu, where the mangroves were being controlled due to their propensity to overgrow archaeological sites and the habitat of endangered Hawaiian waterbirds. Mangroves within NPWMA were very dense (> 24,000 trees ha^-1) and most were relatively small (only 3.3% of the trees were ≥ 10 cm DBH). Mean basal area, …

We previously reported that chimpanzees were unable to optimally select the smaller of two candy arrays in order to receive a larger reward. When Arabic numerals were substituted for the candy arrays, animals who had had prior training with numerical symbols showed an immediate and significant improvement in performance and were able to select reliably the smaller numeric representation in order to obtain a larger reward. Poor performance with candy arrays was interpreted as reflecting a response bias toward the intrinsic incentive and/or perceptual features of the larger array. Characterizing the probabilistic motions of cells is a prerequisite for the development of a general model of transport and surface deposition of white cells and platelets (WBC/P). These phenomena differ greatly when red blood cells (RBC) are present at normal levels, but follow convective diffusion in dilute suspensions. A critical need is to understand and characterize dispersion and diffusion as they apply to red cells in suspension flow. The dispersive motions of
0.5-micrometer beads and fluorescently labeled human RBC flowing in dilute (0.003%) and concentrated (25%) RBC suspensions, respectively, were characterized using fluorescence videomicroscopy methods, and times for individual tracer …
