In theory building effective teams seems easy but in reality putting this knowledge into practice that changes behavior and fosters learning is a difficult challenge for corporations today. Through a series of 13 interviews this study benchmarks both the service and manufacturing industry to identify the characteristics about what comprises an effective team in organizations today, how their organizational design impacts team development and the different ways that people learn, think about and understand teams in organizations. Developing …

Customer Service Goes To College, Donald Hudspeth

Theses

The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a feedback model that can be used to gather data from students that have shared a common educational experience at a college in Croatia. Historical data was researched on surveys, interviews, and focus groups in order to discover the characteristics of each. The characteristics were classified as either a strength or a weakness of each of the models. The operating constraints of the college were identified as the effect that cultural differences can play in the collection of data and the financial budget. After these constraints had been applied …

Paranoid Personality Disorder., Nancy S. Thurston Jan 1999

Paranoid Personality Disorder., Nancy S. Thurston

Faculty Publications - Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Program

Excerpt: "The core feature of a paranoid personality disorder (PPD) is a longstanding, pervasive pattern of mistrust in the motives of others. Persons with this disorder assume that others have malevolent intentions to harm, exploit, or deceive them, even when no objective evidence exists. They ruminate over unfounded suspicions that their family and friends are disloyal and will scrutinize these relationships for evidence of untrustworthiness. In particular they are prone to pathological jealousy of their spouse or lover. They are often reluctant to confide in others out of fear that anything they say will be used against them. This makes …

Female Genital Mutiiation, Allison Blount

The Corinthian

Female circumcision, also called female genital mutilation (FGM), is a collective name given to several traditional operations performed on girls and women in 28 African countries primarily but also in Asia among some minorities. According to the Rainbo organization, FQiM is an ancient custom estimated to affect 130 million girls and women; there are about 2 million new cases each year. Recently, the practice has also begun to surface within immigrant communities in Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States ("Female Genital Mutilation: A Fact"). As you read this essay, there are between eight and ten million women and girls …
