Land Evaluation Standards For Land Resource Mapping : Guidelines For Assessing Land Qualities And Determining Land Capability In South-West Western Australia, Dennis Van Gool, Geoff Allan Moore

Resource management technical reports

Updated by report 298, van Gool, D, Tille, P J, and Moore, G A. (2005)
This report provides a standard method for attributing and evaluating digital land resource maps in Western Australia so that strategic decisions about the management, development and consevation of land resources can be based on the best information available. The standards update the generic methodology described by Wells and King (1989) which have been used routinely for the assessment of land resources in catchment and land use planning in Western Australia.

Final Environmental Impact Statement Related To Reclamation Of The Uranium Mill Tailings At The Atlas Site, Moab, Utah, Division Of Waste Management, Office Of Nuclear Material Safety And Safeguards, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission

All U.S. Government Documents (Utah Regional Depository)

This Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) has been prepared by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, to address potential environmental impacts associated with a request by Atlas Corporation to amend its existing NRC License no. SUA-917 to reclaim in place an existing uranium mill tailings pile near Moab, Utah. The proposed reclamation would allow Atlas to (1) reclaim the tailings pile for permanent disposal and long-term custodial care by a government agency in its current location on the Moab site, and (2) prepare the 162-ha (400-acre) Moab site for closure. the FEIS describes and …

Restructuring The Schoolbook Provision System In Indonesia: Some Recent Initiatives, Dedi Supriadi

Education Policy Analysis Archives (EPAA)

Schoolbooks account for between 65% and 75% of all publishing activity in Indonesia. The amount of money allocated is continually increasing. Priority is given to the primary and junior secondary school levels (6+3 years), which are compulsory. Between 1969 and 1988, the Government of Indonesia (GOI) has produced some 550 million primary textbooks and library books. ...

Fisheries Research Report No. 113 - Catch, Effort And The Conversion From Gill Nets To Traps In The Peel-Harvey And Cockburn Sound Blue Swimmer Crab (Portunus Pelagicus) Fisheries, Roy Melville-Smith, Mark Cliff, Sonia M. Anderton Mar 1999

Anderton

Fisheries Research Reports

Over the last few years, there has been considerable interest on the part of commercial fishers to move away from using gill nets, the traditional method for fishing for blue swimmer crabs in Western Australia (WA), to fishing with traps. Blue swimmer crab fisheries in WA are regulated by effort controls and most gill net fishers are restricted to hauling 1,000 metres (1,200 metres in the case of Cockburn Sound) of gill net per day.

The fieldwork in this study was initiated in March 1994 in Cockburn Sound and in January 1996 in the Peel-Harvey Estuary. It was aimed at …

Mirroring Behavior Of Partial Photodetachment And Photoionization Cross Sections In The Neighborhood Of A Resonance, Chien-Nan Liu, Anthony F. Starace Mar 1999

Mirroring Behavior Of Partial Photodetachment And Photoionization Cross Sections In The Neighborhood Of A Resonance, Chien-Nan Liu, Anthony F. Starace

Anthony F. Starace Publications

Partial photodetachment and photoionization cross sections corresponding to highly excited residual atoms or ions are shown analytically to mirror one another in the neighborhood of a resonance. More precisely, any two groupings of partial cross sections are shown here to have components whose variations with energy near a resonance are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. This work extends an analysis of Starace [Phys. Rev. A 16, 231 (1977)] for the behavior of partial cross sections near a resonance to the case when the ρ2 parameter of Fano and Cooper [Phys. Rev. 137, A1364 (1965)] tends to zero.

Horticulture Research Report 1994 - 1998, Frank Wise Institute, Kununurra, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia, D. Robinson, M. Howes, R. Randell

Horticulture research reports

This report summarises horticultural research, development and extension activities undertaken by staff from the Kununurra District Office during the period 1993 to 1998 and reported annually at the Frank Wise Institute Horticultural Research Review. The range and extent of activities presented and supported by Agriculture Western Australia with industry collaboration indicates the importance of horticulture in the economies of the Kimberley Region and Western Australia. Further support by funding bodies and agribusiness, and collaboration with other research organizations is also acknowledged. Since the early 1980's, horticultural output and value of production from the Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA) have risen …

System Reliability: A Case When Fuzzy Logic Enhances Probability Theory's Ability To Deal With Real-World Problems, Timothy J. Ross, Carlos M. Ferregut, Roberto Osegueda, Vladik Kreinovich Mar 1999

System Reliability: A Case When Fuzzy Logic Enhances Probability Theory's Ability To Deal With Real-World Problems, Timothy J. Ross, Carlos M. Ferregut, Roberto Osegueda, Vladik Kreinovich

Departmental Technical Reports (CS)

In his recent paper "Probability theory needs an infusion of fuzzy logic to enhance its ability to deal with real-world problems", L. Zadeh explains that probability theory needs an infusion of fuzzy logic to enhance its ability to deal with real-world problems. In this talk, we give an example of a real-world problem for which such an infusion is indeed successful: the problem of system reliability.
