Image Fusion Based On Deep Learning With Different Locations And Sizes Of Objects, Baneen Al-Kalabi, Tawfiq Al-Assadi
Image Fusion Based On Deep Learning With Different Locations And Sizes Of Objects, Baneen Al-Kalabi, Tawfiq Al-Assadi
Journal of Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity
Multi-focus image fusion combines partially focused images into a single all-in-focus composite. Existing object-based methods assume precise spatial and scale alignment across source images, an assumption that frequently fails in Misaligned Multi-Focus Dataset scenarios due to camera displacement and focal length variation. This paper proposes a novel training-free, object-aware fusion framework to address this limitation through a five-stage pipeline: YOLOv8x detection, SAM2-L segmentation, LoFTR correspondence matching, a novel Scale-Aware Area Resize Algorithm, and GLCM-guided MSB/LSB bit-level fusion. The framework was evaluated on the EDMF benchmark (20 image pairs, synthetically modified to simulate Misaligned Multi-Focus Dataset shifts) and a Misaligned Multi-Focus …

Lossless Medical Image Compression Using Integer Discrete Wavelet Transform With Adaptive Subband Differencing And Context-Adaptive Entropy Coding, Rasha F. Nadhim, Ibrahim Adel Ibrahim, Ashwaq T. Hashim
Journal of Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity
From transform-domain decorrelation and adaptive entropy coding, we propose a method for efficient lossless compression of medical images in this work. We implement the Integer Discrete Wavelet Transform (IDWT) to decompose the input image into four subbands of LL, LH, HL, HH, encompassing approximation and directional detail elements, in the initial implementation. It also removes spatial redundancy in image information and decomposes image information into a less correlated and more sparsely distributed set of coefficients. To decrease redundancy further, it proposes a subband-dependent differencing scheme, which decorrelates neighbouring wavelet coefficients with directional prediction. So horizontal differencing is done on LH, …

A Blockchain-Integrated Federated Learning Model And Autoencoder-Based Feature Reduction For Improving Iot Intrusion Detection, Tahseen A. Wotaifi
Journal of Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity
The rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) environments has brought forth a wealth of security challenges in detecting network intrusions in diverse and resource-restricted systems. Privacy, scalability, and single point of failure issues plague traditional centralized intrusion detection solutions. To address these challenges, the study proposes a secure and adaptive intrusion detection model using Federated Learning (FL) and Blockchain, augmented with autoencoder-based feature reduction. The ToN-IoT dataset is pre-processed, and then an unsupervised autoencoder is used to build informative low-dimensional feature representations. The processed data is deployed to various clients to mimic a real federated situation. Every client will …
A Dual- Task Hierarchical Graph Attention Network For Protein-Protein Interaction Sites Prediction, Oras A. Hussein, Eman S. Al-Shamery
A Dual- Task Hierarchical Graph Attention Network For Protein-Protein Interaction Sites Prediction, Oras A. Hussein, Eman S. Al-Shamery
Journal of Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity
In computational structural biology, it is still very hard to accurately find protein-protein interaction (PPI) sites and estimate how strong the interaction would be. In this research, we provide an innovative two-stage deep learning framework that combines residue-level graph representation learning with protein-level regression to achieve a thorough modeling of protein interactions. Protein structures first encoded as residue graphs, with nodes that stand for amino acids and edges that show how close they are to each other in space. To find binding residues, a deep residual Graph Attention Network v2 (GATv2) uses multi-head attention, residual connections, and Jumping Knowledge aggregation …
Ai Vs. Licensed Psychologists: A Comparative Analysis Of Treatment Plan Quality For Treating Psychological Distress, Michael Edward Maloney
Ai Vs. Licensed Psychologists: A Comparative Analysis Of Treatment Plan Quality For Treating Psychological Distress, Michael Edward Maloney
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The study was conducted to investigate whether statistically significant differences exist in the quality of treatment plans developed by artificial intelligence (AI) platforms versus treatment plans generated by licensed psychologists, with a focus on intervention specificity and clinical appropriateness. Given the rapid proliferation of digital mental health technologies and the persistent shortage of licensed mental health professionals, empirical evaluation of AI-driven clinical tools has become a critical area of inquiry. Grounded in dual process theory (DPT), which conceptualizes decision making as the product of both intuitive and analytical cognitive systems, the study employed a quantitative, between-groups design. Sixty-six licensed psychologists …

Calibration Of Xl3t Xrf Analyzer Via Analysis Of Micromatter® Standards, Cooper Rr Scroggin
Summer Interdisciplinary Research Symposium
Before Fall 2025, Dr. Iceman’s research students utilized Argonne National Labs’ Beamline to determine the contents of air samples for a wider air quality study. The research cohort’s use of the beamline ceased, following scheduling and fiscal concerns, and with it the research on air quality. Valparaiso University is in possession of an XL3t XRF Analyzer, which can be used to quantitatively measure the concentration of a range of elements in a sample. For proper use, the instrument must be calibrated in such a way that the user knows the accuracy and precision of its readings. Sets of vapor-deposited standards …
Equivocation Analysis Across Continuous And Discrete Memoryless Channels, Md Munibun Billah
Equivocation Analysis Across Continuous And Discrete Memoryless Channels, Md Munibun Billah
Theses and Dissertations
Physical-layer security uses the noise already present in the channel to keep a message secret without making any assumption about the eavesdropper's computing power. In Wyner's wiretap channel model, coset coding uses randomness to map the message to many codewords and protects against information leakage from an active eavesdropper. The secrecy provided by such codes is measured by their equivocation, which is the eavesdropper's remaining uncertainty about the message after she observes her channel. So computing equivocation is an important aspect of analyzing the wiretap channel model. Many channels of practical interest have no closed-form expression for equivocation, and exact …

Staying Relevant: Radio’S Shift Toward Gen Z’S Listening Habits, Rocky Prasetyo Jati
JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA
The digital transformation of media has reshaped audio consumption and challenged traditional radio to stay relevant, particularly among Generation Z, the digital-native cohort. This article examines how community and hyperlocal radio stations are adapting to shifting media dynamics by combining conventional broadcasting with digital innovations. The study employs qualitative methods. As Gen Z prefers flexible, personalized, and on-demand content, radio stations are repositioning broadcasters as multi-platform content creators and online community managers. Adaptation strategies include integrating radio with visually oriented social media platforms, offering curated playlists, and adopting participatory models such as digital tipping (saweran). Radio stations are …
Metropolitan Public School Counselors’ Perceptions On Implementing The Ohio K–3 Social And Emotional Learning Standards, Sharon Johnson
Metropolitan Public School Counselors’ Perceptions On Implementing The Ohio K–3 Social And Emotional Learning Standards, Sharon Johnson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In 2019, the Ohio Department of Education adopted K–12 Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) standards to support students’ emotional, behavioral, and academic development; however, the problem is that implementation remains optional across districts, resulting in variability in school counselors’ access and consistency. Although SEL implementation has been examined in educational settings, there is a gap due to a lack of available research that have explored metropolitan K-3 public school counselors’ lived experiences implementing the Ohio K-3 SEL standards. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to explore metropolitan K-3 public school counselors lived experiences implementing the Ohio K-3 SEL …

A Professional Development Course On Data-Driven Dynamical Systems At A Primarily Undergraduate Institution - Part B: Professional Development Framework And Institutional Implementation, Alessandro M. Selvitella, Jeffrey R. Anderson
CODEE Journal
This paper presents the professional-development and institutional-implementation component of a three-paper program on introducing data-driven dynamical systems into undergraduate ordinary differential equations instruction at a primarily undergraduate institution. The companion paper \cite{SelvitellaAnderson2026} develops the mathematical and computational content, including regression, regularization, Dynamic Mode Decomposition, Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics, and a Van der Pol oscillator activity. The present paper asks a complementary implementation question: what departmental structures, graduate teaching assistant roles, professional-development activities, and course-support pathways are needed for such materials to become teachable within local undergraduate settings?
We describe a three-phase professional-development model for graduate teaching assistants in the …

In this paper we focus on the intersection of tile assembling systems, edge-matching puzzles, combinatorial games, and knot construction and identity. As a basis, we utilize the game Celtic!, which is a 2-player board game where the goal of the game is to construct knots where one knot uses more of a player’s pieces than the other player over all knots. All pieces must build off an existing knot and a valid knot must be closed. We consider three variations: a 0-player self-assembly variation that deterministically places pieces to form a closed knot of some length, a 1-player puzzle variation …

Evaporation plays an essential role in the water cycle, influencing local and regional climates while directly impacting water availability in lakes. However, directly measuring evaporation over water bodies remains challenging due to the high costs of installing and maintaining the required in situ instrumentation. Although several remote sensing algorithms have been providing evaporation estimates, the lack of a global validation hinders our understanding of their relative uncertainties and performances across different regions. Here, we analyze the performance of a suite of models that leverage satellite data and meteorological reanalysis to estimate evaporation over lakes worldwide. We compare 3 remote sensing‐based …

Neural Ordinary differential equations(Neural ODEs) provide a continuous-time framework for learning dynamical systems by representing the evolution of a state variable through a parameterized differential equation. While most existing methods rely on numerical time stepping methods during training such as RK4, this work investigates an alternate spectral framework where both the solution and the time-dependent network parameters are represented by global polynomial expressions.
Two methods are employed: the first uses Taylor series representations, and the second approach uses Chebyshev polynomial expansions together with fast spectral transforms and efficient polynomial multiplication techniques. In each formulation, the Neural ODE is transformed into …

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for accurate epidemic forecasting to support public health decision-making. Most existing approaches depend heavily on human mobility data, while largely neglecting population behavior shaped by socio-cultural norms. In this study, we analyze daily COVID-19 mortality and Google mobility data from 72 countries during the first 130 d of the pandemic, a period characterized by high uncertainty and behavioral heterogeneity. In particular, we examine whether Hofstede’s country-level cultural dimensions can serve as latent behavioral forecasters of mortality in lieu of dynamic mobility indicators. Using 100 d for training and 30 d for forecasting, we employ …

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a methodology for the evaluation of the (relative) potential environmental impacts of a product system throughout its life cycle. It is standardised under the ISO14040 and ISO14044 series. When conducted rigorously, LCA provides a quantitative framework for comparing environmental impact and can challenge or substantiate common assumptions regarding environmental performance of the system. However, it is essential that any reported results are read in combination with the defined goal and scope, as the choice of the system boundary and/or the allocation of burdens and other methodological choices can influence the outcome presented. This review will …

Quantum computing is inherently abstract and often counterintuitive from the perspective of classical physics. For learners to develop a deeper understanding, it is useful to study a practical example thoroughly, from its mathematical formalism to quantum circuit implementation. Shor's algorithm for period finding, which can then be used for prime factorization, is demonstrated in this paper due to its practical significance. While numerous publications on Shor's algorithm exist, they tend to focus on advanced theoretical analysis, specific implementation details, or narrowly defined research aspects; consequently, they are often not well-suited for educational purposes for beginning and intermediate learners. This paper …
Experimental Evaluation Of Membranes In The Recovery Of Hydrogen From Serpentinization, Rafael Dos Santos
Experimental Evaluation Of Membranes In The Recovery Of Hydrogen From Serpentinization, Rafael Dos Santos
LSU Master's Theses
Natural hydrogen generated through serpentinization reactions has emerged as a promising low-carbon energy resource. However, serpentinization-derived gas streams commonly contain methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), requiring purification before hydrogen can be utilized in industrial applications. Membrane-based gas separation technologies offer a potentially cost-effective solution for hydrogen recovery; however, to the best of the author's knowledge, no previous studies have specifically investigated their application to serpentinization-derived gas streams.
This work evaluates the performance of two commercial polymeric membrane modules (Evonik and Generon) and one palladium-copper (Pd-Cu) membrane module (Okaya) for hydrogen recovery from gas compositions representative of serpentinization environments. An …

The inner surface pressure of an axisymmetric inlet/isolator model was measured using anodized-aluminum pressure-sensitive paint (PSP) viewing through cast acrylic. Temperaturesensitive paint was utilized to correct for the PSP’s temperature sensitivity. The model was tested under Mach 5.7 flow at 𝑹𝒆 = 7.1 ×106 /m under conventional noise conditions. Transverse jet injection with jet-to-inlet mass-flow ratios up to 0.8 was used to induce unstart in the inlet/isolator. Background-oriented schlieren visualization of the inlet shocks was collected simultaneously with the PSP to determine when the inlet unstarted. Computational fluid dynamics results were used to determine off-wall flow structures and quantify approach …

Communications on Number Theory and Combinatorial Theory
In this paper, we introduce a graph coloring game called the Edge-Distinguishing Game (EDGe). The edge-distinguishing chromatic number of a graph is used to determine the moves each player can make. We determine which player has a winning strategy for particular graphs and graph families. Additionally, utilizing principles from game theory as well as previous work on a computational solution for the Game of Cycles.

Bidirectional Associations Between Social-Cognitive Processes And Mathematics Achievement In Autistic Children, Carole M. Wadie, Conner Peltier, Quinn Slyker
OneUSF Undergraduate Research Conference
Mathematics achievement is a critical component of academic functioning, strongly predicting later educational and life outcomes (Kaskens et al., 2022; Tonizzi & Usai, 2024). Although prior research has examined mathematics achievement and general cognition, limited work has investigated the role of social-cognitive processes in mathematical development among autistic children. Skills such as theory of mind (ToM), affect recognition, and inferencing may support mathematical learning by enabling children to interpret instructions, integrate information, and apply conceptual understanding (Kloo et al., 2022; Kim et al., 2021). Developmental cascade theory suggests that functioning in one domain may influence development in another, with bidirectional …

Best Practices For Classroom Seating Arrangements: A Narrative Literature Review, Sophia M. Williams
Graduate Student Research Symposium
Every K-12 classroom has a unique dynamic produced by students and managed by its teachers. The relationships between peers, as well as the relationships between students and their teacher play an integral role in how students work and behave each day. An important aspect of the classroom dynamic that teachers’ control is seating arrangements. Indeed, extant research has debated on the best practice for seating arrangements in classrooms to create optimal learning environments that benefit both pupil and teacher. Some studies suggest that students work better when they are working with people that they have positive relationships with. Contrarily, others …

Dual-Waste Integration For Geotechnical Improvement: Silica Fume And Eggshell Ash In Kaolin Soil Stabilization, Ng Jun Shen, Muzamir Hasan, Siti Sarah Eliyun, Md. Ikramul Hoque, Mohamad Afiq Jazrin Mohamad Sidek
Journal of Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies
This study reveals the potential substitution of silica fume and eggshell ash in the technique of soil stabilization, varying across distinct proportions in the modification of geotechnical parameters. The untreated kaolinitic soil which has low soil bearing capacity in nature is frequently reflected in its mechanical instability, for instance, soil settlement and extreme compressibility. By associating the industrial and agricultural material, it is potentially to resolve the above-mentioned issues with explicit designs. A number of laboratory approaches have been implemented in the assessment of basic geotechnical properties, including grain size distribution, Atterberg limits, specific gravity, proctor properties, and shear strength …

The scarcity of water is a pressing issue in the semi-arid zone, largely due to climate change and the limited water resources available in the country. Groundwater is one of the subsurface sources of water during the arid seasons in Iraq. This study aims to evaluate the quality of groundwater in the Badra district, Wasit governorate. Twenty-four wells were selected, and three methods were used to analyze the water quality. Starting with the water quality index, which is a test of four subindices (salinity hazard, permeability risk, ion toxicity, and miscellaneous effects on sensitive groups). Then, the spatial distribution map …

Technical Disclosure Specification: Eliminating Late-Time Logarithmic Thermal Drawdown In Closed-Loop Geothermal Wells Via Soliton-Induced Boundary Layer Disruption, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This specification formalizes an advanced multi-physics engineering framework to eliminate late-time logarithmic thermal drawdown, localized stagnant fluid insulation, and long-term thermodynamic extraction decay in deep, closed-loop geothermal wells. Traditional geothermal energy extraction architectures encounter a severe physical limitation over extended operational runtimes: the continuous circulation of working fluid rapidly cools the immediate borehole rock face, establishing a stagnant thermal boundary layer that isolates the fluid from the core geological heat source and collapses extraction efficiency.
This framework resolves this bottleneck by treating the borehole rock-fluid interface as an active 2D viscoelastic fluid transport membrane operating at a strict coordinate baseline …

Cancer is characterized by dysregulated metabolic signaling pathways, leading to uncontrolled cellular proliferation. Current cancer treatments, which involve surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, still cause adverse systemic toxicities. Accordingly, one possible effort that can be undertaken is to explore safe anticancer substances from protein sources such as peptides. Bioactive peptides can be isolated by hydrolyzing cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) protein with trypsin. The objectives of this study were to isolate and fractionate bioactive peptides from cowpea, to determine the anticancer activity of peptide fractions, to identify active peptide fractions as anticancer agents using Liquid Chromatography High Resolution Mass Spectrometry …

It has previously been shown that exogenous bacterial ribosomes added to somatic cells and various cancer cell lines generate ribosome-induced cell clusters (RICs) capable of transdifferentiating into multiple cellular lineages. However, the scope of ribosome-induced transdifferentiation in cancer cells remains poorly understood. This study aimed to analyze the effects of exogenous ribosome incorporation on human cancer cell lines, specifically the intestinal epithelial cell line Caco-2 and the hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG2. Caco-2 and HepG2 cells were cultured with purified bacterial ribosomes in human ES/iPS cell medium after trypsinization, resulting in the formation of ribosome-induced Caco-2 (RICs-Ca) and HepG2 (RICs-He) …
