Hooking The Big Idea: Working Titles In Creative Problem Solving By Young Latino Adolescents, Juliann Hector
Theses Digitization Project
Problem representation/problem finding skills are frequently the catalyst facilitating adroit knowledge base access and subsequent positive creative outcomes in adult populations. To determine whether judged creativity is similarly enhanced through young adolescents' use of a working title representation strategy within a curriculum knowledge base, 40 Latino partyicipants at two Southern California middle schools received brief written interactive directions for one of two different types of problem representation or a third, non-representational control group.

Classification Of Explosives Transformation Products In Plant Tissue, Steven L. Larson, Robert P. Jones, Lynn Escalon, Don Parker
United States Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District
Explosives contamination in surface or groundwater used for the irrigation of food crops and phytoremediation of explosives-contaminated soil or water using plant-assisted biodegradation have brought about concerns as to the fate of explosives in plants. Liquid scintillation counting, high-performance liquid chromatography, and gel permeation chromatography were utilized to characterize explosives (hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine and trinitrotoluene) and their metabolites in plant tissues obtained from three separate studies. Analyzing tissues of yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus), corn (Zea mays), lettuce (Lacuta sativa), tomato (Lyopersicum esculentum), radish (Raphanus sativus), and parrot feather (Myriophyllum aquaticum) …

Ezra And Dorothy Pound: Letters In Captivity, 1945-1946, Robert Spoo, Omar Pound
Books
These fascinating letters capture the most traumatic experience of Ezra Pound's life, when he was incarcerated at the end of World War II and indicted for treason. Omar Pound and Robert Spoo have collected and edited the unpublished correspondence between the poet and his wife, combining it with restricted military orders and extensive references to FBI documents, previously unknown photographs, and an insightful introduction, to create the definitive work on this period of Pound's life.

Consumption Rates Of Summer Flounder Larvae On Rotifer And Brine Shrimp Prey During Larval Rearing, David A. Bengtson, Timothy R. Gleason, Mohamad A. Hossain
Fisheries, Animal and Veterinary Sciences Faculty Publications
Larval summer flounder Paralichthys dentatus were hatched and reared through metamorphosis in the laboratory. At several points in the rearing cycle, larvae were removed from their rearing chambers and placed in small bowls, where they were fed known quantities of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis (flounder larvae age 6, 10, or 13 d posthatch) or nauplii of brine shrimp Artemia sp. (flounder larvae age 23, 28, 34, or 47 d posthatch). Counts of prey organisms remaining in the bowls after 24 h allowed us to calculate numbers of prey consumed. Consumption rates increased from 62 rotifers/24 h (6-d larvae) to 301 …

The Convergence Of Thinking, Talking, And Writing: A Theory For Improving Writing, Kellen Mcclendon
The Convergence Of Thinking, Talking, And Writing: A Theory For Improving Writing, Kellen Mcclendon
Duquesne Law Review
The author's longstanding method of improving a law student's legal writing is to encourage the student to "talk-out" what the student is trying to write. The author finds support for that method by exploring the relationship among thinking, talking, and writing through the work of experts in those fields. The author concludes that the best way to find the overlap of thinking, talking, and writing, which is the point of effective communications, is to talk-out what one is writing.

Sloan-Kennally Timber Sale Final Environmental Impact Statement, United States Forest Service
Final Environmental Impact Statements (ID)
This Final EIS documents three alternatives analyzed for the Sloan-Kennally Timber Sale. The sale is to be offered in 2000 and administered by the McCall Ranger District of the Payette National Forest. The Sloan-Kennally sale planning area is located approximately 15 miles southeast of McCall. Alternatives include No Action, the Proposed Action, and Alternative 3, no timber harvest in the roadless area. The preferred alternative is the proposed action, which would harvest timber on 571 acres using tractor and helicopter logging systems. The mixture of silvicultural treatments is designed to mimic historic timber stand structure consisting of scattered large trees …

Environmental Assessment For Wild Horse Gathering Outside Wild Horse Herd Management Areas, United States Department Of The Interior, Bureau Of Land Management
Environmental Assessments (WY)
The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for the welfare of wild horses. The wild horse program is under constant scrutiny by the public for actions concerning wild horse management and gathering. Within the Rawlins field office (RFO) there is a substantial acreage of "checkerboard" lands. Approximately 50 percent of these lands are BLM-administered public lands and 50 percent are private lands controlled by many private entities. The northern portition of the gather area contains this type of land pattern.

Diaries 1857-1917, Milton Wright
Milton Wright Diaries
The Special Collections and Archives in the Wright State University Libraries was chosen in 1975 to be the repository for an extensive collection of Wright Brothers' material. Among the thousands of photographs, books, technical journals, correspondence, financial records, and memorabilia were the diaries of Bishop Milton Wright. These diaries of the father of Wilbur and Orville Wright record the full range of experiences of his adult life from 1857 to his death in 1917. They provide a detailed chronicle of Milton Wright's dynamic, and sometimes controversial, ministry and leadership in the United Brethren Church, and his role as the father …
The Red Road Approach To Healing As Used In Native American Adolescent Addiction Treatment, Colleen M. Husak
The Red Road Approach To Healing As Used In Native American Adolescent Addiction Treatment, Colleen M. Husak
Graduate Research Papers
Traditional treatment programs have not worked with Native Americans. Instead, programs designed to be culturally sensitive are needed (Burn, 1992). In this paper, the author will explore the specific theory of the Red Road approach as used in Native American adolescent substance abuse treatment facilities. The Red Road approach is practical in its psychological application at the same time that it incorporates and encourages the spiritual beliefs which are a major part of the philosophy of most Native Americans (Black Elk & Lyon, 1991). As Black Elk and Lyons (1991) noted, even Native Americans who no longer practice their ancestral …
