A Needs Assessment For Parents Of Children With Developmental Disabilities, Susan E. Peterson

The purpose of this study was to explore the needs of parents of young children with developmental disabilities. The survey included 70 families served through Early Childhood Special Education. Data collection utilized the Family Needs Survey (Bailey & Simeonsson, 1990). Topics examined were: Information, Family and Social Support, Financial, Explaining to Others, Child Care, Professional Support, and Community Services. Findings indicated that parents have a high need for information about current and future services available for their children. Family and social support data indicated that parents have a need to find time for themselves. The financial needs parents reported were …

Historical Analysis Of Past And Present Treatments Associated With Borderline Personality Disorder:, Jimmie Lee Willette
Theses and Graduate Projects
The following thesis examines the historical perspective of mental illness, leading to therapeutic interventions for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder. The need for improved interventions are reflected in treatment failure with both historical and traditional therapies, including repeated hospitalizations, self-injurious behaviors and suicide attempts. This thesis uses the Systems Theory and Ecological Perspective to review and analyze past and present treatments, with special emphasis on the 'Dialectic Behavior Therapy,' (DBT) program initiated in 1993 exclusively for individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

VCU Voice, 1988-1998
VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

Adrenomedullin Gene Expression Is Developmentally Regulated And Induced By Hypoxia In Rat Ventricular Cardiac Myocytes, Stephania Cormier-Regard, Son V. Nguyen, William C. Claycomb

Adrenomedullin is a recently discovered hypotensive peptide that is expressed in a variety of cell and tissue types. Using the technique of differential display, the adrenomedullin gene was observed to be differentially expressed in developing rat heart. Reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that the level of adrenomedullin mRNA was significantly higher in adult ventricular cardiac muscle as compared with embryonic day 17 ventricular cardiac muscle. Adrenomedullin receptor mRNA was constitutively expressed throughout development of the ventricular heart. Two potential hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) consensus binding sites were identified in the mouse adrenomedullin promoter at -1095 and -770 nucleotides from …

In chapter 1, the liquid/ liquid extraction of americium (III) from nitric and hydrochloric acid solutions with chloroform solutions of 2, 6 bis[(diphenylphosphino)methyl]pyridine N, P, P' trioxide (ENOPOPO) is examined. Americium (III) is efficiently extracted from aqueous solutions at high nitric acid concentrations (DAm > 3000 at 6 M HNO3) and can be totally back extracted from the organic phrase at 0.01 M HNO3. The ligand dependency data suggest that two ligand molecules are coordinated to the americium. This issue brief provides an overview of the Medicare coverage process. Coverage involves deciding whether or not to pay for a particular service or product. This brief examines Medicare's coverage determination process, which includes technology assessment, payment determination, and the demand for evidence.
