Maternal Employment, Child Care, And Nutritional Status Of 12-18-Month-Old Children In Managua, Nicaragua, Jessica F. Lamontagne, Patrice L. Engle, Marian F. Zeitlin
Psychology and Child Development
Relationships among women's employment, child care strategies, and nutritional status of children 12–18 months of age were examined in 80 Nicaraguan households sampled by randomized block design in 10 low income urban communities. Multiple regression analyses showed that children of employed mothers (56%) fared better in weight/height than those whose mothers were not employed. with and without controlling for socioeconomic status and maternal education, paternal financial support, child care adequacy, and sex and age of the child. Children with inadequate alternate child care (care by a preteen or care at the work place) had lower height for age, even controlling …

The Effects Of Potato, Corn And Wheat Starch On The Rheological Properties Of Pigmented Paper Coatings, Brian G. Hart
The Effects Of Potato, Corn And Wheat Starch On The Rheological Properties Of Pigmented Paper Coatings, Brian G. Hart
Paper Engineering Senior Theses
The paper industry is one of the largest users of commercial starch in the world. Starch has many uses in the papermaking process, including coating operations. In coating, starch has two main purposes: to work as a binder and to give desired rheological properties to the pigmented paper coating. Research was done examine the effects of three different starches on the rheological properties of pigmented paper coatings. The three starches were com, wheat, and potato. These starches were modified using the enzyme conversion process. The converted starches were added to the coating formulas and then tested for high and low …

Preparing to sign off on the term paper that’s almost overdue, I assemble the onion-sheets, clean, almost papyrus in their texture, collectively re/producing Professor Johnson’s paper: a critical review of David Copperfield. Don’t talk about what you liked, don’t talk about how you felt reading it, don’t talk about how it’s like other novels you’ve read. Just don’t talk: the honor code prohibits that. All of which means: figure out what my Ichabod Crane wants, read the text his way, write his paper, type it, submit.

Educational Implications Relating Neuroanotomical Research And Developmental Dyslexia, Joseph P. Kender, Mark A. Kender
Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts
Studies on autopsy of the brains of dyslexics and those measuring brain functioning during cognition during the past decade and a half have shed some light on the possible causes of developmental or specific dyslexia. This article briefly reviews some of the most pertinent research and offers some guidelines for the prognosis and treatment of dyslexic individuals and literary options for reading teachers and specialists to use in working with dyslexia.

Mechanism Of Triazolo-Benzodiazepine And Benzodiazepine Action In Anxiety And Depression: Behavioral Studies With Concomitant In Vivo Ca1 Hippocampal Norepinephrine And Serotonin Release Detection In The Behaving Animal, Patricia A. Broderick, Omotola Hope, Pierrot Jeannot
Publications and Research
1. Real time, in vivo microvoltammetric studies were performed, using miniature carbon-based sensors, to concurrently detect norepinephrine (NE) release and serotonin (5-HT) release, in 2 separate electrochemical signals, within CA1 region of hippocampus in the freely moving and behaving, male, Sprague Dawley laboratory rat.
2. Concurrently, four parameters of open-field Behavior I.E. Ambulations, Rearing, Fine Movements and Central Ambulatory behavior (a measure of anxiety reduction behavior), were assayed by infrared photobeam detection.
3. Time course studies showed that the mechanism of action of the triazolobenzodiazepine (TBZD), adinazolam, (Deracyn®) is dramatically different from that of the classical benzodiazepine (BZD), diazepam …
