A Colorimetric Investigation Of Soft Proofing, Karl Williamson Feb 1997

A Colorimetric Investigation Of Soft Proofing, Karl Williamson

Theses

The color proof has become one of the most important tools for quality control in the printing industry today3. Customers, publishers, separators, and printers depend upon its accuracy for indicating the quality of separations. The color proof is the most practical method for communicating how the color should appear and is easy to understand and use for comparison. The analog color proof is compared to the original to determine if the desired result has been achieved. The proof is sent to the customer to indicate how the image will appear when printed. If this proof is accepted, it is sent …

Measurements of nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and total reactive nitrogen (NOy = NO + NO2 + NO3 + HNO3 + ClONO2 + 2N2O5 + ...) were made during austral fall, winter, and spring 1994 as part of the NASA Airborne Southern Hemisphere Ozone Experiment/Measurements for Assessing the Effects of Stratospheric Aircraft mission. Comparisons between measured NO2 values and those calculated using a steady state (SS) approximation are presented for flights at mid and high latitudes. The SS results agree with the measurements to within 8%, suggesting that the kinetic rate coefficients and calculated NO2 photolysis rate used in …

Pulsations And Accretion Geometry In Yy Draconis: A Study Based On Hubble Space Telescope Observations, Carole A. Haswell, Joseph Patterson, John R. Thorstensen, Coel Hellier

Dartmouth Scholarship

We present 1 Å resolution fast ultraviolet spectroscopy of YY Dra, coordinated U, B, V, R, and I photometry, and Hα spectroscopy. The UV continuum is strongly pulsed: we found 16% semiamplitude pulses with period 264.7(1) s; there was no evidence for power at twice this period. The UBV pulses are in phase with the UV continuum pulsation. A color temperature of 105 K was found for the pulse spectrum, with a corresponding area 0.5% of the white dwarf surface. We refine the white dwarf spin period, obtaining Pspin = 529.31 ± 0.02 s. Optical pulses at …

Estimation Of Pore Diameter For Intraparticle Fluid Flow In Hidisperse Porous Chromatographic Particles, G. A. Heeter, Athanasios I. Liapis Feb 1997

Estimation Of Pore Diameter For Intraparticle Fluid Flow In Hidisperse Porous Chromatographic Particles, G. A. Heeter, Athanasios I. Liapis

Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

A quantitative method is developed and presented for estimating the mean pore diameter, d(pore), that could allow intraparticle fluid flow in the macroporous region of adsorbent particles with a bidisperse porous structure packed in a column. The method is used to estimate the value of d(pore) that is required to obtain specified values of the fraction, F, of the column superficial fluid velocity that is flowing through the macroporous region of the adsorbent particles and the value of d(pore) that is required to obtain specified values of the intraparticle Peclet number, Pe(intra).
