An Analysis Of Interviewing Training Needs For Child Sexual Abuse Investigators, Michael L. Gaylor
Sociology ETDs
This study was designed to assess the performance of child sexual abuse investigators in conducting multi-use forensic interviews. The primary focus was on the job/performer level of analysis with a secondary focus on organizational and process issues.
Every year, thousands of innocent children endure the emotional and physical pain of sexual abuse. Thousands more find themselves at the mercy of skilled perpetrators who rob child victims of their innocence. Given these circumstances it is expected that social service, criminal justice and judicial systems will execute their respective roles and responsibilities while always keeping the best interest of the child at …

Criteria For The Removal Of Children With Serious Emotional Disturbance From The Public School System, Becky Flippin
Theses & Honors Papers
Over the last decade, educators, administrators, and parents have become increasingly concerned regarding the identification and appropriate placement of children with serious emotional disturbance. These special individuals need a variety of services to enable them to function at their greatest level in the school system and in the community. The literature suggests that there are differences in the availability of programs in various school divisions and communities which may contribute to a child being prematurely placed in a residential treatment facility. Through surveying members of eligibility committees in various areas of the state, both urban and rural, this study has …

1994-1995 Season
When a young and effortlessly charismatic black con man claiming to be the son of Sidney Poitier himself smiles his way into the sympathetic living rooms of a few of New York City’s white wealthy elite, and tears a swath of disillusionment through their preconceptions and comfortable lives, the thirst for understanding leaves them questioning their sense of selves. Ouisa and Flan, the play’s central duo and two married art dealers, find themselves victims of a strange invasion after offering a young man, who appears to have been mugged in Central Park, shelter in their apartment. The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare
The Indian Child Welfare Act seeks to protect Indian children from family and cultural disruption. The Act mandates minimum standards for the removal of Indian children and for their placement in foster care. However, a recent national survey suggests that requirements for Indian foster homes are not being met in public agency substitute care programs. At the same time, Native American child welfare agencies have developed a range of services for Native American children. The authors show that the intent of the Act will be better served if the case management of Native American children in public agency care is …
