The Lake Mead Fertilization Project is a research program designed to investigate the potential for using large-scale artificial fertilization to enhance the game fisheries of this reservoir through an increase in the population of threadfin shad, the system's primary forage species. A substantial decline in the population of largemouth bass, together with poor condition of adult striped bass, are the two major issues affecting the Lake Mead game fisheries. Both issues have been hypothesized to be a result of an inadequate amount of forage in the reservoir. Previous studies have in turn suggested that a major factor limiting the shad …

Little is known about the seventy-two women who served in the North Dakota legislature between 1923, when women first took seats, and 1989, the state's Centennial year. Their collective story has been absent from major scholarly works about the history of North Dakota, a state which prizes its unique and colorful political heritage. The purpose of this study is to remedy this lack of information.

The purpose of this paper was to find F wave frequency in normal subjects and patients with sciatica, in order to know if there any significant difference in appearance between them, whether this kind of examination could provid a noninvasive methoid in the diagnosis of lumbar radiculopathy.Among the 22 volunteered normal subjects, there was no significiant difference between bilateral lower extremities for the mininal, mean and maximal values of tibial and deep peroneal F-wave latency and their F-frequencies. In order to study the effects of hip and knee angle to knee flexion and extension torque and other measurements obtained from Cybex 340 isokinetic dynamometer in isometric and isokinetic exercises, twenty normal young adults were tested at various hip position(SITTING:hip 85°,SEMIRECLINED:hip 135°, SUPINE: hip 180°) and different speeds (ISOMETRIC:0° /sec, LOW SPEED ISOKINETIC:60°/sec, HIGH SPEED ISOKINETIC:180°/sec). Adequate warm-up exercise and rest was requested between each test in this study.In isometric flexion exercises, the greatest torque value was obtained at supine position. In order to investigate the problem of menstrual dysfunction among young female athletes in the Chinese population.152 female athletes participating in the 1988 Taiwan Area Athletic Meet (TAAM) were surveyed via questionnaire. Among the athletes who were younger than 18 years, those who were premenarchetrained had delayed menarche (13.7±1.1 years), which was statistically significant, when compared with the postmenarche-trained group (13.0±1.4 years)and the college students in general population(12.8±1.0 years) (p＜0.05 and p＜0.0001,respectively).For the problem of irregular menstrual pattern,athletes who were trained after menarche were studied. Bicycle injuries are the most common sports injuries in U.S. There are different causes, types, and sites of sports injury between amateur and professional cyclist. 16 Asian Games cyclists of our country participated in this survey study of cyclic sports injuries. We used questionaire and physical examination to complete this study. According to the result of questionaire, the most frequently lesion sites were: knee (87.5%), low back (81.3%), hand (56.3%). A 5 year-old boy had non-progressive myopathy since 2 years of age. Muscle enzymes were normal. Electromyography showed a myopathic feature. Prominantly disseminated nemaline bodies and predominant type I muscle fibers were found in muscle biopsy specimen. The clinical and morphological findings supported the existence of a rare form of congenital myopathy.

The relative position determination of a cluster of satellites operating in a low earth orbit is investigated. A U-D Covariance Factorization Kalman Filter is used for the on-board estimator with dynamics based on the Clohessy-Wiltshire equations. Measurements consist of range data between a single host satellite and the remaining cluster. Therefore only relative position and velocity states with respect to the host satellite can be determined. A 15 sample Monte Carlo simulation was conducted with clusters of 2, 5, and 10 satellites, respectively. Performance results consists of average error, average true error and filter covariance as a function of time.

Visualization is used for many purposes, including education, algorithm research, performance analysis, and program debugging. This research applies algorithm animation techniques to programs developed for parallel architectures, with specific on the Intel iPSC/2 hypercube. The numerical approximations of the Green's functions for a theoretical model of an aperture fed stacked patch microstrip antenna are presented. The Green's functions approximated are those developed by Nazar (AFIT Thesis GE-89D-37), Green's Functions for a Theoretical Model of an Aperture Fed Stacked-Patch Microstrip Antenna. Each complex valued Green's function was written as a function of the source-observer separation. The behavior of each Green's function was analyzed, and it was found that they could all be approximated by three separate functions.
