A Study And Application Of The Process Of Supergene Enrichment Of Silver Ores., Arthur C. Verling Jun 1936

A Study And Application Of The Process Of Supergene Enrichment Of Silver Ores., Arthur C. Verling

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

In many deposits of silver ores the grade of the ore decreases considerably a few hundred feet below the surface. It is believed that in many cases the better ores owe their richness in part to the process of sulphide enrichment. It is recognized, however, that many rich silver ores are hypogene deposits that have been affected very little, if any, by processes of enrichment.

The Council Of Colonial Virginia : 1700-1750, Esther Campbell Walsh Jun 1936

The Council Of Colonial Virginia : 1700-1750, Esther Campbell Walsh

Honors Theses

1660 is the date conveniently accepted as marking the turn of Virginia society away from its early democratic character. After that date, colonial society became clearly stratified, and by the turn of the century had received its set firmly in the mold of aristocracy. The institution in which all the elements of aristocracy concentrated was the Governor's Council, which exhibited social, political, and economic power centered in the hands of a ruling few. The period from 1700 to 1750 is the high tide of councillor power. In the years before 1700, the steady rise of its power was interrupted by …

A Critical Analysis Of Jonathan Edwards' Treatise On The Freedom Of The Will, Ralph Harold Metcalfe Jun 1936

A Critical Analysis Of Jonathan Edwards' Treatise On The Freedom Of The Will, Ralph Harold Metcalfe

Bachelors’ Theses

The subject of the Freedom of the Will has appealed to me from the first time I began studying it. I have always regarded the faculty of volition in man as a fundamental reason why man is as he is. It is enough to study what man really is rather than what he might be, for man with hie many intracies has been the object of study since he was first conceived on this earth furthermore man will be studied as long as there is time.

I have chosen as my thesis, A Critical Analysis of Jonathan Edwards’ Treatise on …

Irving Babbitt As Critic And Humanist, C. Carroll Hollis Jun 1936

Irving Babbitt As Critic And Humanist, C. Carroll Hollis

Bachelors’ Theses

To become legendary while living is, generally speaking, unfortunate. Such as Irving Babbitt's lot. Probably his death will gradually evoke a legend of a more accurate and objective kind. He was by many regarded as a conscientious pedant, and was never what might be called "popular". It must be admitted that his gift was of a nature that has always made for unpopularity.

William Dean Howells, His Realism And Relation To Our Contemporaries, Joseph Dzwinel Jun 1936

William Dean Howells, His Realism And Relation To Our Contemporaries, Joseph Dzwinel

Bachelors’ Theses

In Howells novels v,e find liberalism, a deep sympathy with the "little man", hatred of plutocracy, and abundance of esthetic virtue, and a critique of industrial capitalism by which we are coming to test Howells mental calibre. The novels with all their virtues, ease of style, urbanity, irony, humanity, sharp dissent from the ideas and practices of our commercial world, lend themselves very gracefully to study of their influence on contemporary literature and contemporary reading tastes. The purpose of this study is to show these influences.

Student Work

During the twentieth century, because of the increase in the number of students in colleges, universities, and secondary schools, the shift in the responsibility for students from the home to the school, and the present-day emphasis upon personnel work, there has come a steady increase in the number of deans for women students and the importance of their function in the public eye. New deanships have been established in many colleges, universities, and secondary schools; since 1919 twenty-four courses have been organized in different institutions for the purpose of training deans; and the membership of the National Association of Deans …
