The Progressive Self-Culture Of A Lutheran Pastor, John Weidenschilling Jan 1937

The Progressive Self-Culture Of A Lutheran Pastor, John Weidenschilling

Bachelor of Divinity

During his three years at the seminary the theological student is taught the qualifications and requirements of a Lutheran pastor, and he is informed of the tremendous responsibilities and the exacting demands which a call into the ministry will lay upon him when he has become a pastor of a congregation. But the seminary training is not able to convert the student into a full-fledged pastor. Only long years of hard study and practical experience and divine grace can equip a man successfully and completely for this greatest and hardest calling and work in this world. Unless the ministerial candidate, …

A Critical Analysis Of The Content Of The Course Of Study In Commerical Law For High Schools Appraised By Three Criteria Of Value With Specific Recommendations For South Dakota, Dona Susan Brown Jan 1937

A Critical Analysis Of The Content Of The Course Of Study In Commerical Law For High Schools Appraised By Three Criteria Of Value With Specific Recommendations For South Dakota, Dona Susan Brown

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The curriculum of present day schools is the agency through which the educational system in a large part fulfills the function for which it was created. The early trend was to place the emphasis on how to teach instead of what to teach. Before 1920, the curriculum was considered more or less "fixed", and little time was devoted to research in curriculum content. In fact, less than 1500 courses of study had been published in the United States at that time.

Dehiscence Of The Fruit Of Porulaca Grandiflora, Roland V. Rethke Jan 1937

Dehiscence Of The Fruit Of Porulaca Grandiflora, Roland V. Rethke

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

There is comparatively little known about the mechanism of dehiscence in dry fruits of the angiosperms. A number of contributions have been made to the cytology of anther dehiscence and dehiscence of spore capsules, but the only research pertaining to dehiscence of fruits has been done by foreign workers; and little of that is more than gross observation. Therefore, aside from the problem's intrinsic interest it has the added feature of opening a relatively new line of study in this country.

A Review Of Certain Phases Of Cosmetics, Dorothy Nelson

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Since the advent of cosmetics between thirty and forty thousand years ago their preparation, uses end effects have been a matter of frequent and nearly constant discussion and experimentation. In the words of Lillian H. Foster (1) quoted from "The American Perfumer": "As it (cosmetics) serves as a worthy commodity of commerce and as an adjunct to beauty, a double function combining the useful and the ornamental, should not the make-up box receive its due and be accorded recognition as a valued member of society?"
This particular study was formulated to investigate the factors which comprise cosmetic dermatology, from the …

The Relationship Existing Between The Extent Of Education And The Relief Status Of Rural Households In South Dakota, Vera Petheram Jan 1937

The Relationship Existing Between The Extent Of Education And The Relief Status Of Rural Households In South Dakota, Vera Petheram

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The problem during the past six years a great deal of attention has been centered upon the problem of caring for the needy persons in this country. This problem has been thrust most forcibly upon the attention of the general public with the creation of numerous emergency relief agencies. Never before has a general public relief been extended to so many people, and never before has the federal government entered into the realm of relief giving to such a great extent. Depression, augmented by drought in almost all the agricultural states in 19347, brought the number of persons cared for …

The Revolutionary Philosophy Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Jean H. Wood Jan 1937

The Revolutionary Philosophy Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Jean H. Wood

Graduate Thesis Collection

In approaching the subject of Coleridge's Revolutionary Philosophy, one finds that the scope of the problem necessitates dividing it into different periods. This division is made not for the purpose of classifying Coleridge's ideals within set limitations, but of viewing his philosophy from varying perspectives. Throughout his life, regardless of age, he was a disciple of Liberty. His pursuit of this ideal furnishes the continuity that we seek throughout his political philosophy.
