Sarah Bernhardt: Her Life And Art, Loretta Klopfer Jun 1937

Sarah Bernhardt: Her Life And Art, Loretta Klopfer

Bachelors’ Theses

The Theatre is a world apart--a world by itself; it enacts its own laws, and rules its subjects according to them. The life that revolves around the Theatre is probably the most beautiful, the most artistic, the most fascinating, the most intriguing--yet the most cruel, the most fickle, the most exacting, the most difficult life. The Theatre lauds and applauds you while you bring it fame; it ignores you, once you fail to enrich its splendor. It demands your youth, your freshness, your energy, and your talent, only to force you into oblivion when your talents and energy have been …

in view or the fact that salivary gland chromosomes are being so thoroughly studied at the present time, it is interesting to notice that as early as 1881 Balbiani reported the chromosomes in the Chironomus fly. He interpreted the "bands" which are of such importance to the cytologists today, as disks of chromatic material. The achromatic material he called "zwischensubstanz" or as it is now termed the matrix. Leydig (1883) also worked with the Chironomus fly. He thought that the "bands" were similar to muscle fiber striation. Carnoy (1884) believed the chromosomes were hollow cylinders and the chromatin arranged to …

Italian Fascism, Elmer A. Plischke Jun 1937

Italian Fascism, Elmer A. Plischke
