The Electroplating Of Cadmium From Sulfate Solutions, Lewis S. Prater

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

It has been proven that cadmium forms a very satisfactory plate on steel, which has to withstand severe corrosion, especially the corrosion of sea water and spray. The metal is now successfully plated electrolytically from cyanide solutions, but wherever work is carried on with cyanide, there is great danger of poisoning to the workers.

The Presence Of Rhenium In Montana Manganese Ores., Henry E. Swanson

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Rhenium properties offer many interesting possibilities, therefore any ores containing rhenium would be of considerable value. Its close relationship to manganese in the periodic table led to the belief that manganese ores would be an excellent place to search for the metal. Investigation of the literature of rhenium revealed that no ore was known to contain more than 0.001 per cent of rhenium.

Achievement In Spelling In The Elementary School With And Without The Use Of Textbooks In The Hands Of Pupils, Ernest R. Allbert

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The specific problem of this thesis is to determine the relative worth of two methods of instruction in spelling, namely: (1) achievement in spelling when pupils study the spelling lesson then the words are written on the blackboard, and (2) when the spelling words are studied in the orthodoxy way – from the textbook. In so far as the writer has been able to determine there is little in the literature of education concerning experimental investigations of the relative worth of these two methods.

The Theory Of Determinants: Some Special Forms And Applications, William Ralph Eikelberger May 1937

The Theory Of Determinants: Some Special Forms And Applications, William Ralph Eikelberger

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The theory of determinants is a relatively new branch of mathematics; it was not firmly established until a brief 200 years ago. It was not until the middle of the 18th century that Cramer, one of the independent discoverers of the fundamental idea, was fortunate enough to attract attention to the theory of determinants. Much of the literature is written on the assumption that its reader has a good background in the subject. Then other authors just give the fundamental properties of determinants without proof of their statements. These latter authors are not interested in the mathematical theory of determinants, …

A History Of The Milwaukee Sentinel From 1837 To 1900, Helen Elizabeth Schneider

Bachelors’ Theses

The purpose of this thesis is to present a history of the Milwaukee Sentinel from 1837 to 1900. Sentinel files reveal that the paper did not confine itself to Milwaukee alone, but took a keen interest in state, national, and to some extent, international affairs.

At that time the care of paupers and criminals was one of the greatest problems confronting our immigration officials. This problem however was not so serious as it seems because, as soon as a foreign pauper was seized he was put in the poor house, which served also as a jail, and he stayed there until the state was able to deport him.

California And The Japanese, Mary Robert Schulte May 1937

California And The Japanese, Mary Robert Schulte

Bachelors’ Theses

New America owes her growth and her greatness to the millions of men who were invited to her shores from all corners of the earth. They brought to this country ideals of old civilizations, blended them in a new environment, and inspired the gradual growth of a different set of institutions, social and political, which constitutes American culture today. All immigrants have contributed to the satisfactory end-result, with the exception of the yellow race, which, entering as it did after the civilization was molded on distinct lines, has become more a problem to be solved than a great contributing factor …
