The Curve Of Forgetting For Substance Material, Leslie J. Briggs Jul 1942

The Curve Of Forgetting For Substance Material, Leslie J. Briggs

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The purpose of this paper is to describe the method and analyze the results of an experiment on substance memory. The term "substance memory,” as used in the present study, refers to the retention of general ideas derived from meaningful reading material in which the facts presented require some generalization and abstraction of meaning on the part of the reader. This type of memory is to be contrasted with "factual," or "verbatim" memory, in which the task is to retain specific, detailed facts stated in the reading material, and with rote memory, which involves the memory for illogical, disassociated, discrete …

These texts were not arrived at by personal choice, or preference, but rather by selecting the five most frequently used by teachers of science in high schools in the state of Kansas.

The Pauline Concept Of The New Man, Clarence William Franz Jun 1942

The Pauline Concept Of The New Man, Clarence William Franz

Graduate Thesis Collection

This thesis is to be primarily a character analysis. Naturally that will eliminate considerations that might be easily included. As far as possible a strenuous effort will be made to avoid detailed discussions about theological issues that inescapably belong to such a study as this. In a character analysis we must be concerned principally with individuality in persons. By that we mean to treat all those features and characteristions which distinguish the new man from the old. Those theological factors having to do primarily with the state of man in his relation to God will only be touched upon. It …

Master of Sacred Theology Thesis

Inasmuch as the Levitical worship constituted one integrated body of ritual, the component parts of which were inextricably interwoven, it is difficult to study one section apart from the others. In full cognisance of this inherent but inescapable limitation, we shall devote our attention successively to the four chief elements in the Old Testament system of worships The Festivals; the Sacrifices and Offerings, the Sanctuary and the Priesthood.

The Big Sandy Site, Henry County, Tennessee, Douglas Osborne May 1942

The Big Sandy Site, Henry County, Tennessee, Douglas Osborne

Anthropology ETDs

As the large program of archaeologic exploration undertaken by the University of Tennessee and affiliated government agencies expanded it became apparent that the original system of excavating a basin completely and then, and only then, of publishing a complete report was somewhat slow and unwieldy. This is more than ever true insofar as the Kentucky Basin is concerned. When one considers that the dam at Gilbertsville, Kentuoky, will back water to the Pickwick dam some 180 miles upstream, it becomes obvious that an adequate descriptive compilation of the archaeology of such an unusual area would be most difficult. Therefore it …

A Critical Analysis Of Report Cards Used In New Mexico, John Robert Grove May 1942

A Critical Analysis Of Report Cards Used In New Mexico, John Robert Grove

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Many of the ties that used to bind the home and school are gone. The home and the school no longer have the feeling of intimacy that prevailed between them two hundred years ago. In the early American schools it was possible for the teacher to know the parents of nearly every child in the school room. Since this possibility no longer exists in the same degree, some link must be evolved to connect both the home and the school; some method to take the place of meetings on the street or conversations after prayer meeting must be organized to …
