The Experience Of Well-Being In Educators Who Transitioned From In-Person To Online Teaching, La Toya S. Glenn
The Experience Of Well-Being In Educators Who Transitioned From In-Person To Online Teaching, La Toya S. Glenn
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The COVID-19 pandemic created substantive stress and uncertainty for secondary educators, including responding to the shifts in delivering education from the traditional to the online classroom and back to the classroom. Improper training, increased work demands, increased responsibilities, and decreased autonomy took a toll on teachers’ work and home life. To better understand how teachers deal with transitions in online, hybrid, and in-person education, this study explored secondary educators' experiences of psychological well-being during the transitions from in-person to online teaching. An interpretative phenomenological approach guided the research design. Lazarus and Folkman's transactional theory of stress and coping was used …

Strategies For Financial Sustainability In Family-Owned Nonprofit Organizations, Lance W. Cain
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The mission of many family-owned nonprofit organizations (FONPOs) is to provide goods and services to underserved communities and benefit society. However, less than 50% of FONPO leaders maintain sufficient cash reserves for 30 days of operations, and up to 13% are technically insolvent. Without adequate cash reserves, FONPO leaders risk decreased operational capacity and profitability, and insolvency, which may lead to business closure. Grounded in the resource-based view and commitment–trust theories, the purpose of this qualitative single-case case study was to explore strategies used by some organizational leaders to ensure the financial sustainability of FONPOs. The participants were four senior …

The Relationship Between Ohio Start Peer Recovery Services And Parental Sobriety, Jennifer Mcclellan
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Parental substance use is associated with an increased risk for child maltreatment. The rise of parental substance use in Ohio led the state to implement Ohio START (sobriety, treatment, and reducing trauma), an evidence-based model that incorporates lived experience through peer recovery services embedded within child protection agencies. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the timeliness and quantity of Ohio START peer recovery services and the length of parental sobriety at case …

The Lived Experience Of Career Sponsorship Of Canadian Female Executives, Dianna Dinevski
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Women represent almost half of the Canadian labor population, but less than 6% of women advance to executive leadership. This is problematic because previous studies showed gender balance has been proven to be good for business, but with not enough women advancing in the leadership pipeline, business performance will continue to suffer. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of Canadian female executives regarding how career sponsorship may have influenced their career advancement to executive management. Role congruity theory provided the framework for the study. Eleven Canadian female executives participated in semistructured interviews to …

The Perception Of Official Housing Policies For Women With Medically Assisted Treatment, Vickie Lynn Roberson
The Perception Of Official Housing Policies For Women With Medically Assisted Treatment, Vickie Lynn Roberson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Opioid overdose is the leading cause of death among the homeless, with limited access to housing, food, security, and medically assisted treatment (MAT). The women on MAT are affected because they may not be readily accepted into the housing community if considered non-abstinent, unlike other substance users who would not have those problems. There previously had not been research on how housing for women was affected when on MAT or any housing facilities that have established MAT protocol. In this generic qualitative design, 10 female participants on MAT who needed housing were interviewed using semi-structured interviews. Bandura's social learning theory …

The destructive effects of the trauma experienced by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic left nurses with long-term psychological and physical effects that impaired their ability to effectively care for their patients, their families, and themselves. Although researchers have described the nurses’ experiences using generalized psychological and physiological trauma-related symptomatology, none have grounded their studies within the context of trauma theory. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to explore the lived experience of nurses caring for critically ill COVID-19 patients during the pandemic through the lens of trauma theory.
