Many students at the Valley View Primary School (pseudonym) in the Caribbean are not performing according to numeracy and literacy standards on national tests. Administration and teachers wanted to know why changes to formative assessment practices are not increasing students’ achievement levels. The purpose of this qualitative exploratory case study was to examine teachers’ perspectives regarding the importance of formative assessments relating to their instructional practices and knowledge of formative assessments in this primary school. COVID-19 vaccines have been available in the United States since December 2020. However, very few studies have looked at the serious health outcomes reported by those who received a COVID-19 vaccine. Guided by the social ecological model, factors associated with reported serious health outcomes and deaths within the first 2 months after taking a COVID-19 vaccine were examined. A total of 720,210 cases from the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data from December 2020 to December 2022 were analyzed using multiple logistic regression and multinomial logistic regression to determine if medical conditions predict the number of reported deaths and …

Special education teachers do not always include assistive technology (AT) in instructional practices to promote the academic success of students with learning disabilities. The purpose of this study was to explore the reasons special education teachers only sometimes include the use of AT in instructional practices. The conceptual framework was observational learning theory, also known as social learning theory, which focuses on human learning patterns based on observations of other human beings. This study investigated the barriers to effective prompting and shaping techniques in behavioral interventions for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Using a generic qualitative design grounded in Skinner’s behaviorism theory as a theoretical framework, the study was focused on the experiences of 10 behavioral intervention specialists with at least 5 years of experience implementing these techniques. Incidences of African American maternal death are especially prevalent in the urban living population.
