This qualitative phenomenological study explored the unique challenges faced by women of color professors in higher education, who often experience imposter syndrome due to systemic barriers and underrepresentation. The purpose of this study was to gain an in-depth understanding of how these professors experienced and made meaning of imposter syndrome in academic settings. The central research question examined the meaning of imposter syndrome among women of color professors in higher education. Underutilizing trauma-informed approaches in correctional rehabilitation has had detrimental consequences, particularly for gang-involved populations. Theories of personality, responsivity, and stress suggest that gang-affiliated individuals, shaped by coercive environments, may develop psychological reactions such as fear, guilt, and moral shame that contribute to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and moral injury (MI). This study examined whether gang role, psychopathy, and perpetration predicted PTSD and MI among 70 incarcerated adult males. Worsening mental health among college students post-COVID is a growing national health crisis. Grounded in Cacioppo’s evolutionary theory of loneliness and Feeney and Collins’ thriving through relationships theoretical perspectives, the purpose of this study was to explore the degree to which social interaction and social support predicted psychological outcomes among undergraduate students. Black individuals with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have an excessive risk of mortality and experience ongoing inequities in end-of-life (EOL) planning. This basic qualitative study, informed by Sulmasy's biopsychosocial-spiritual model, explored social workers' perspectives about approaches that consider the interplay of physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects for mitigating barriers to EOL planning among Black dialysis patients. Data were obtained from semi structured interviews with 10 licensed dialysis social workers in Virginia and Maryland. Childhood emotional abuse may be underreported and unnoticed. The purpose of this quantitative cross-sectional study was to examine whether shared family identity (SFI) with an emotionally abusive childhood caregiver was linked to self-censorship of social and political opinions in adulthood. The study also examined whether this relationship is intensified among those with a strong sense of SFI with that caregiver. Linear multiple regression analysis of survey data collected from 119 participants, recruited through Survey Monkey Audience, revealed that willingness to self-censor was significantly shaped by the interaction between SFI and emotional abuse, especially overcontrol. Subjective Excessive Daytime Sleepiness And Frailty Progression In Veterans Over 50 With Insomnia, Mona Amirmazaheri

Frailty is common in aging veterans and linked to adverse outcomes. This retrospective cohort study of 6,824 veterans with insomnia examined whether excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep treatments, and PTSD affected frailty progression over four years. Frailty was measured using a validated index, with models adjusted for demographics and comorbidities, including chronic coronary insufficiency. Manuscript 1 showed that a higher Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) score (range 0-24) was independently associated with a higher frailty index (FI) (p < .001). A clinical threshold of ≥11 indicated EDS and greater odds of frailty worsening compared to scores <11 (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 1.16, 95% CI [1.02, 1.32], p = .021). There was no significant interaction between ESS and time, suggesting that sEDS reflects persistently elevated frailty levels rather than accelerated decline. Manuscript 2 showed that nonpharmacologic sleep interventions were protective, while pharmacotherapy was associated with increased frailty risk. Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia was associated with lower odds of frailty worsening (aOR = 0.31, 95% CI [0.19, 0.53], p < .001), and continuous positive airway pressure therapy also reduced risk (aOR = 0.55, 95% CI [0.39, 0.76], p < .001). In contrast, sleep medications were associated with increased odds of frailty progression (aOR = 1.16, 95% CI [1.02, 1.32], p = .021). Manuscript 3 showed that PTSD was not associated with baseline frailty levels but showed a significant time interaction (B = 0.001, p = .008), indicating modest acceleration of frailty progression among affected veterans. Findings support positive social change through early sEDS screening and trauma-informed, nonpharmacologic sleep care to reduce frailty in veterans.

Mold exposure and menopausal transition have been independently linked to cognitive decline, yet their interaction among socioeconomically disadvantaged populations has not been well examined. This quantitative study is an exploration of how menopausal transition influences the relationship between mold exposure and cognitive health outcomes among women aged 40 to 60 living in low-income housing in the United States. This study revealed the complex interplay between personal identities and social constructs, focusing on Black-identifying women and their lived experiences with sex, sexuality, and sexual expression. Over centuries, societal influences depicted Black women as hypersexual, simultaneously exposing them to criticism, shame, and judgment for their sexual expression and meaning-making related to sex and sexuality. Oral health disparities continue to present a significant public health challenge for older adults in the United States, particularly among racial minority and low-income populations. Despite national discussions around healthcare equity, there remains limited empirical insight into how race and income influence dental service utilization among Medicare beneficiaries. In this quantitative, cross-sectional study, the extent to which these demographic factors predicted oral healthcare utilization, using nationally representative data from the 2021 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey, was assessed. The population of Puerto Rico has been heavily affected by chronic diseases; however, data remains limited on the influence of diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension, and obesity on the probability of COVID-19 diagnosis. The purpose of this quantitative study was to evaluate the association between non-communicable diseases that included DM, obesity, hypertension, and COVID-19 diagnosis, controlling for age and sex and person exposure in Puerto Rico. The sample consisted of 1,463 participants who underwent a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19 from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021. Barriers to brokering therapeutic services cause challenges for school social workers to address their students’ mental health needs, especially in Georgia, where students’ mental health needs are high. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore school social workers’ perceptions of the system barriers related to brokering these services. The research questions explored school social workers’ perceptions of brokering on-site versus community-based therapeutic services in the state of Georgia.
