Job Duties And Qualifications For Computer Programmers In Selected Organizations Of The Richmond, Virginia, Area And Implications For An Electronic Data Processing Curriculum At The Richmond Professional Institute, Edwin E. Blanks
Theses and Dissertations
The tremendous impact of electronic data processing on the lives of the American people is being felt in every segment of our economy. Regardless of the area of activity, be it business, education, government, industry, or the service areas, electronic data processing is performing an increasingly· important function. The volume of paper work, the magnitude of government reports, and the demands of management for information, have created mammoth challenges for electronic data processing. These challenges are complex. However, electronic data processing equipment and personnel are making favorable gains on the problems posed by these challenges.

Effects Of Surface-Active Agents On The Susceptibility Of Swiss Mice To Candida Albicans, Harvey W. Holm
Theses and Dissertations
Harvey W. Holm, Master of Science
The thesis here abstracted was written under the direction of Dr. Richard M. Marwln and approved by Dr. Robert G. Fischer and Dr. Jerald L. Connelly as members of the examlng committee of which Or. Marwln was Chairman.
White Swiss mice are generally resistant to Candida albicans injected 1ntraper1tonea11y. An effort was made to determine 1f surfactants when combined with Candida albicans would decrease the LD50 of this organism. The surfactants tested were Plurafac B26, Polyethylene Glycol 1*00 Mono Laurate, Mulsor 22k, and Pluronlc L62. Peritoneal leukocyte and differential counts, tissue sections, and blood …
Thermodynamics Of Proton Ionization In Aqueous Solution I. A Precision Thermometric Titration Calorimeter ; Ii. Entropy Titration : A Calorimetric Method For Equilibrium Constant Determinations ; Iii. H And S Values For Carboxylic Acid Proton Ionization At 25c ; Iv. Site Of Proton Ionization From Adenosine, Lee D. Hansen
Theses and Dissertations
The design, construction, and calibration of a precision thermometric titration calorimeter is described. This calorimeter was tested by determining the enthalpy change for ionization of water. The result, 13.34 ±0.03 kcal/mole (standard deviation), is in exact agreement with the best literature values. This standard deviation indicates that, using this calorimeter, ΔH values can be determined with an accuracy of ±0.0.5 kcal/mole. A calorimetric procedure has been developed for the, simultaneous determination of the equilibrium constant, the enthalpy change, and the entropy change for a chemical reaction from a single titration (Entropy Titration). This procedure has been tested by determining pK, …
Only There Were Two: An Original Play In Three Acts, Ronald A. Dalley
Only There Were Two: An Original Play In Three Acts, Ronald A. Dalley
Theses and Dissertations
Only There Were Two, a full-length three-act play, is written as a reminder to us all of the faith and endurance of a handful of Mormon settlers. I have endeavored to capture the dramatic spirit of a man who would not let bigotry and prejudice run him from his home.
The Poetry Of Matthew Arnold: A Study In Versification, Douglas A. Mathewson
The Poetry Of Matthew Arnold: A Study In Versification, Douglas A. Mathewson
Theses and Dissertations
Despite the great number of published works that deal with English prosody or the more restricted subject of versification, there is a noticeable scarcity of studies that describe the practices of individual poets. One of the more apparent reasons for the meager number of versification studies is the instability of the basic criteria by which a poem is examined. Prosodists quite simply find it difficult to establish concrete principles of scansion that are acceptable to all other prosodists. Without going into discussion of the various schools of thought on metrical structure, suffice it to say that there are conflicting opinions …

Tularemia And Deer Flies In The Environs Of Utah Lake, Utah, Kaye B. Cox
Tularemia And Deer Flies In The Environs Of Utah Lake, Utah, Kaye B. Cox
Theses and Dissertations
Deer flies have been implicated as mechanical veotors of tularemia in Utah. Although infected flies heretofore have not been tound in nature, there is little doubt of their importance in transmitting tularemia to man. Two species present in this area, Chrysops discalis Williston and Chrysops noctifer Osten Sacken, have been shown experimentally to transmit the disease. The presence of deer flies in the environs of Utah Lake where tularemia is endemic oftera a potential health threat to man, and the expanding human population and development ot recreational facilities adjacent to the lake inorease this potential. Despite the taot that deer …

Desert Journey: A Religious Dance-Drama And An Evaluation Of Its Effect On A Selected Latter-Day Saint Audience, Frank W. Hatch
Theses and Dissertations
The Holy scriptures abound in references to the use of dance as a means of worship. It would seem that there is a need to understand how present day members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints feel in regard to the kind of dancing referred to in the Scriptures.
This study will be concerned with the production of "Desert Journey," a religious dance-drama depicting an episode from the Book of Mormon. A record of "Desert Journey" will be made with a movement notation system adapted from Motation, an architectual movement notation system developed by Laurence Halprin of …

Trends In Promotion And Advertising Techniques Of Household Electrical Appliances By The Electric Utility Industry, Morris H. Toppila
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of the study was to trace the development of national co-operative appliance advertising and promotional activities of the electric utility industry from 1882 to 1963. The principle source of information was the electrical trade magazines.
The advertising program of the electric utility industry has changed from emphasis on direct selling to coordination of national co-operative appliance campaigns. Advertising co-operation between retailers, manufacturers and the electric utility industry has been in existence since 1933.
The "Live Better Electrically" campaign is the most recent and successful of any co-operative promotional and advertising program. The Edison Electric Institute, representing the electric …
