Frequency Filtering Characteristics Of The Halftone Contact Screening System, Rudolph J. Guttosch

A simplified model of the halftone contact screening system was devised and tested to determine the applicability of the model for predicting frequency transfer characteristics of the system. The model was tested using illuminance sinusoids of varying frequency as input to the halftone system. The output was obtained by optically correlating the exposing sine wave with its halftone image. It was found that the halftone system is capable of transfering information at frequencies greater than the screen frequency, and that the model generally underestimates the ability of the system to reproduce high frequency information, although the basic shape of the …

A photographic shutter was considered, comprised of a mechanically driven, pivoted opening blade and a spring driven, pivoted closing blade which is released by a magnetic holding coil through an armature lever. The magnitude of the viscous drag of air on the closing blade is approximated, and its effect on the travel time (lag time) of the blade is determined to be insignificant. A spectroradiometer was designed and built to record in vivo absorption characteristics of the lateral elbow. An analysis of variance of spectral characteristics between 400 and 1100 nanometers of faculative melanin to skin types one two and three was performed. The hypothysis that skin type could be differentiate by spectral recordings of in vivo faculative melanin was rejected. Further research is required to correlate constitutional melanin to skin type classification, in order to form a reference for pigmented cutaneous lesion classification.

It is also well established that within the cells of estrogen target organs there are proteins which act as specific receptors and as such bind estrogen against a concentration gradient (1). A resin metering criterion has been developed for processing the prepregs of CTBN-EPOXY resin in which the resin content can be controlled within close tolerances. This criterion was obtained by numerically simulating the flow of CTBN-EPDXY resin in the blade-type metering device at room temperature. The Newtonion case of CTBN-EPOXY resin was selected for the study to avoid dealing with more complicated flow equations. A methodology of using the penalty function/finite element formulation was developed to solve the steady state Navior-Stokes equation.

A mathematical model describing the flow characteristics and mass transfer has been developed for the hollow fiber dialyzer in countercurrent dialysis.

The theoretical expressions are developed from a typical Graetz problem for the stream side, and a first order differential equation for the dialyzate side. The solution of the dimensionless concentration profile is obtained as a summation of orthogonal eigenfunctions in closed form, which are given as product of an exponential function and a confluent hypergeometric function.

The respiratory system was simulated utilizing a series of three models, each more complex than the previous. The first model simulated the respiratory system as a two compartment model driven by carbon dioxide concentration. The second model, also a two compartment model, simulated periodic breathing while the third model is a three compartment model and simulates acid-base balance disturbances.

In this study, the effects of hyperthyroidism and respiratory center depression on respiration premeasured utilizing the models to obtain data and then compare the results to known physiologic data.

Due to the subjective nature of abstract paintings, it is nearly impossible to conclusively prove a point. By referring to observations made by and about other artists and their work, I have been able to substantiate and complement my own ideas. A finite element method for solving the entrance flow in a parallel-plate channal at low Reynolds number has been studied. Two methods of formulation for both incompressible viscous and inviscid fluid flows were developed. The first uses stream function and potential function as field variables while the second uses velocity and pressure. Both formulations presented here ultilized variational principle and weighted residual method.
