Museum Of Formosan Aborigines, Yuan-Feng Cheng
Museum Of Formosan Aborigines, Yuan-Feng Cheng
Theses
In the beginning, the purpose of this thesis was to explore the feasibility of creating a computer-based visual museum. I wanted to experiment with 3-D interactivity, such as how to set up the cursor movement in a 3-D world and how to use 3-D animation in interactive multimedia. I wanted to use Native Americans as the subject of this 3-D museum project. After I sent my thesis proposal to our department, I found my classmate's project was about Native Americans also. Therefore, I decided on another topic. In July 1995, 1 went back to Taiwan to visit my friends. I …

Dirsig Digital Imaging And Remote Sensing Imaging Generation Model: Infrared Airborne Validation & Input Parameter Analysis, Todd Kraska
Theses
The civilian and military need for high resolution infrared imagery has dramatically increased in recent times. Regardless of the user or the need, infrared imagery can provide unique information that is not available in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Just as the need for real infrared imagery has increased, so has the need for computer generated infrared imagery, also known as synthetic imagery. Synthetic imagery is created by mathematically modeling the "real world" and the imaging chain, encompassing everything from the target to the sensor characteristics. The amount of faith that can be placed in a synthetic image …

For my thesis, I have developed a sales promotional package utilizing print and interactive media. Because technology is rapidly changing, I utilized multimedia and print media, by merging them into one project. For this interactive/print project, I created a marketing sales package that markets handcrafted jewelry to wholesale buyers. The two media interact as a buying source that is easily and inexpensively sent to the buyers. This service is very unique, and also provides buyers with alternatives to buying and viewing at the annual shows. The user can purchase wholesale handcrafted jewelry from their office or home without having to …

Gene Therapy, Kerry Danaher
Gene Therapy, Kerry Danaher
Theses
Many advances have been made in the study of genetics over the past decade. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop medical applications which would provide a cure for the many fatal genetically linked diseases to which conventional medicine has been only able to alleviate symptoms at best. The concept of gene therapy is based on a belief that the expression of a specific amount of functional copies of the mutated gene in the appropriate tissue could cure the disease. The Genome project is an international quest to map the entire human genome by the year 2005. This …

Theses
There are little data available for environmental pollution, as well as air pollution and statistical information published in the United Arab Emirates. Especially, Abu Dhabi Emirate, has been the location of the UAE's most persistent and extreme levels of industrial oil waste and chemical smog and air pollutants which produces sulphur dioxide emission. In addition, has a high vehicle population, which produces carbon monoxide emission from the motor vehicle exhaust. The acute toxicity of carbon monoxide (CO) has long been recognized and well documented. The motor vehicle is by far the largest contributor to Co accounting for 55% of total …

The Effects Of Chromated Copper-Arsenate (Cca) Pressure-Treated Wood On Local Sediments And Benthos In A Freshwater Lake, William A. Romeo
Theses
This study looked at the sediment and benthic organism effects of exposure to a Chromated Copper-Arsenate (CCA) treated wood bulkhead in a lake environment with respect to 1) the leaching and accumulation of chromium, copper and arsenic in the nearby sediments, 2) accumulation of these metals in local benthic organisms and 3) the effects of these metals on the local benthic community structure. Sediment samples, taken at regular distances away from a CCA bulkhead and three reference areas in a freshwater lake in Wayne, NJ, were sieved to remove the fine particle fraction (<70µm) which was then analyzed for the metals of concern. Benthic organisms were sampled at the same locations, enumerated, identified, dried and also analyzed for the metals in question. Analysis of sediment metal concentrations revealed high levels of copper at all sampling locations. This was attributed to the annual addition and accumulation Of CuS04 added to the lake. There …70µm)>

Design And Analysis Of Environmentally Safe Cooling Systems For Machine Tools, Haiping Xu
Theses
Many cooling systems of metal cutting and both their advantages and disadvantages have been reviewed. The cutting forces' relationships, stress distribution, energy consumption and heat generation of orthogonal processes are discussed. A two-dimensional finite element model has been developed to design and analyze a new proposed cooling device, which comes from the idea of "A Novel Cooling Device" proposed by Billatos et al. First, a thermal calculation is completed to compare the temperature difference between two different shapes of coiled pipe. Then, three different cutting conditions, which were considered in the experiments by Childs et al, are conducted under three …
