This research was carried to study the phenomena related to code switching admist University Malaya undergraduates. The researcher has discovered the rampant use of Bahasa Malaysia and English terms by undergraduates while conversing in Tamil. This act of code switching appears to be done at a sub conscious level. To achieve the objective of this research, the researcher selected 36 samples consisting of University Malaya undergraduates. The conversation of these samples were recorded and analyzed. This study attempts to look into the realization of politeness strategies among family members in naturally occurring conversations. One of the important aspects of this study is to determine the patterns of politeness strategies demonstrated among family members in a family. On top of that, this study also delves into how the interlocutors accommodate face strategies among family members. In this qualitative study, a non-participation observation was deployed. The research is a genre-based analysis of tourism homepages of Thailand. The study mainly aims to explore the move structures and linguistic features of the tourism homepages. Data were collected from 30 Thai-tourism websites using the framework of move analysis developed by Bhatia (1993) and Askehave and Nielson (2005). Only the homepage of each website was used for the analysis. Kajian ini membincangkan mengenai pemilihan perkataan dan struktur morfologi dalam al-Quran al-Karim secara amnya dan surah al-Fatihah secara khasnya. Ini adalah kerana perkataan Arab boleh dilihat daripada beberapa sudut makna, iaitu makna tersurat, makna tersirat, makna majazi dan makna kinayah. Di samping itu, ia juga boleh dilihat dari sudut sinonim, polisemi dan taḍaadd. Sabah Malay Dialect (SMD) or ‘the speech of Sabah’ is used widely as a lingua franca in interaction between different ethnic groups, and within single groups in Sabah. The broad sociolinguistic setting of the people of Sabah has influenced the formation of SMD. This is enhanced by migrations from Indonesia, the Philippines and other states in Malaysia. Consequently, the vast socio-cultural and socio-economic settings have resulted in language variations in SMD. SMD displays distinctiveness especially in its phonology compared to Standard Malay and other dialects. SMD is indeed a dialect in its own right as shown by this study. Adopting …
