The pH neutralization is regarded as one of the fundamental parts of industrial chemical process. In electrochemical industry for example, heavy metals must be recovered (by reducing the solubility of the metals) from waste streams by controlling the pH value to prevent polluting the environment. Coral stone mosques of Maldives are ancient mosques assembled using finely shaped interlocking 'porite' coral stone from the reef, that have architectural features with coral carvings and detailed lacquer work. The central aim of this study is to identify the conversational topics of urban Malaysian preschoolers. Using quantitative and qualitative approaches, this descriptive study elicited data from an urban, English medium child care and development centre, which provided two groups that comprised 18 preschoolers of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Punjabi descent. A compact digital camera with video recording function was used to record the preschoolers’ reading time, activity time, drawing time, playtime and mealtime conversations on a first-hand basis for four consecutive days and on two separate occasions – September 2009 and March 2010. This study is an interdisciplinary research that analyses written discourses in natural history through the genre analysis’ lens. Genres are explored and examined by drawing on insights gathered from different disciplines such as linguistics, communication and environmental humanities. Data collected comprise a corpus of selected natural history texts published by the Malaysian Nature Society, Malaysia’s oldest non-governmental environmental and conservation body. Employing Ruth Wodak’s Discourse-Historical Approach (Wodak 2001), this research report analyzes the construction of negative-other representation of Donald Trump and his Golf Complex project in Balmedie, Scotland by The Guardian online. The e-news articles are examined for the strategies that are employed to construct a negativeother representation of Donald Trump, and the ways these strategies are linguistically realized. The ensuing findings reveal that eventhough The Guardian successfully constructs a negative-other representation of Donald Trump, his success in getting the planning permission for his golf project shows this hegemonic influence and power over the people of Scotland.

This research report attempts to identify the English language needs of the students of the Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Technology at Kolej TAFE Seremban. The study first discusses the importance of English in aircraft maintenance engineering and the English language proficiency of Malaysian students at present. This study seeks to identify the employment of Brown and Levinson’s Politeness strategies (1978, 1987) on two Malay dialects, which are the Standard Malay and the Kelantanese dialect. The study intends to identify what politeness strategies were employed when the speakers of these two dialects converse. Consequently, the study also looks into which of the politeness strategies were frequented by the participants when conversing. The purpose of this study is to gather information on the problematic areas faced by diploma students in writing in English as a second language. Sixty English compositions written by the students were scored according to the ESL Composition Profile. The profile has four levels of competence and looks at content, organisation, vocabulary, language use and mechanics. Nearly half or more students only scored ‘Fair to Poor’ in all areas except for mechanics. Among all areas, a significantly high percentage of students performed badly in language use. It aims to find the framing of Gotcha Calls, how they are structured in relation to Grice’s maxim of quality and the victims’ reactions to the deceptive behavior in these calls.
