This research is a comparative study of evasion practices between Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Abdul Razak (Malaysian politician) and President Barack Obama (American politician) in selected news interviews. For each evasive answer given by the politicians, the researcher adapted Clayman’s (2001) framework of evasion in determining the level of evasion and exploring how the politicians evaded questions by using specific strategies. This study looks at the different languages that are used in Kelantan and uncovers when certain languages are used in certain domains. It compares the use of language between the young and the old respondents and between gender groups. In addition, it also looks at the language attitudes of the respondents toward the Kelantanese Language and aims to gauge its overall vitality. This qualitative study examines the concept of EAT associated with the verb meok- ‘eat’ in Korean. Data were collected from one online Korean newspaper and analysed based on the twin approaches of conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy. The Korean verb meok- evokes images of food, nourishment and enjoyable gustation. However, when the verb meok- is used metaphorically, particularly as part of compounds, it evokes expressions of unhappiness, with a negative connotation. Summarization is a process to select important information from a source text. Summarizing strategies are the core of the cognitive processes involved in the summarization activity. Summarizing strategies include a set of conscious tasks that are used to determine important information and extract the main idea of a source text. In this research project, we conducted a study on students’ summaries. A collection of 1030 text messages sent by the readers of The Star daily retrieved from the daily’s online portal. Three frameworks were used in this study. Listening comprehension strategies (cognitive, metacognitive and socio-affective) play a crucial role in academic listening. The current study which employs questionnaire survey and follow-up interviews aims to investigate the use of listening comprehension strategies of first-year EFL master‟s degree students of the higher and lower proficiency groups, in order to shed some light on effective acquisition in L2 listening. This study aims at examining the Hausa speakers‘ production of English monophthong vowels from the acoustic point of view. The study focuses on native Hausa speakers of Northern Nigeria. Hausa language has 10 monophthong vowels, while English has 14 monophthong vowels; this shows clearly that there may be a disparity between English and Hausa in terms of vowels and sounds inventory. There are perceived differences between how the native speakers of English produce some of their monophthong vowels and how the Hausa speakers produce those same monophthongs. Kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan mengkaji penguasaan imbuhan kata kerja bahasa Malaysia sebagai bahasa kedua dalam kalangan murid pekak. Data dianalisis mengikut gabungan teori Analisis Kesilapan dan teori Monitor. Subjek kajian dipilih secara sampel bertujuan (purposive sampling), iaitu melibatkan 26 orang murid pekak Tahun 6 dari Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas dan kemudiannya dibahagikan kepada dua kumpulan berdasarkan darjah kepekakan antara 70dB hingga 90dB (70dB – 90dB) dan 90dB dan ke atas (90dB dan ke atas).
