Congenital nephrosis is a rare disease with universally accepted poor prognosis; despite developments in the pathogenesis and management, these children are always a challenge to the caregivers and families. Reported here, is a case of a 6-month-old female infant with infantile nephrotic syndrome, who went into spontaneous resolution within a week without therapy and remained asymptomatic for the following 2 years.

OBJECTIVE: To study the clinical presentation of adult celiac disease. METHODS: A retrospective study of adult patients who were diagnosed with celiac disease based on findings of small intestinal biopsy, response to gluten free diet and exclusion of other causes of malabsorption or vitamin deficiency over a period of 5 years from 1998-2002. The study was carried out at the King Abdul-Aziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. RESULTS: Sixteen patients were diagnosed with celiac disease. OBJECTIVE: To describe the types and pattern of treatment-related misconceptions among Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs) registered diabetic patients in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. METHODS: A sample of 1039 PHCCs registered diabetic patients were interviewed using a structured questionnaire, concerning diabetic treatment-related misconceptions. This cross-sectional study was carried out in Makkah city, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from May 2000 to September 2000. A scoring system was used to document the frequency of misconceptions. We report a case of traumatic perforation of esophagus misdiagnosed as esophageal atresia in a 1.7 kg preterm (28 weeks) twin. Initial resistance to the passage of orogastric tube and failure of passage of contrast material down the esophagus prompted the diagnosis of esophageal atresia. Subsequently, the passage of orogastric tube as well as radiological findings at the age of 7 days made us change the diagnosis to traumatic perforation of esophagus. OBJECTIVE: This collaborative retrospective study was undertaken at Royal Medical Services Hospital, Amman, Jordan, between 1993 through to 2000. Its purpose was to assess the difference in terms of morbidity and mortality in neonates with gastroschisis delivered by cesarean section versus vaginal delivery. METHODS: The records of all neonates born with gastroschisis (n=40, 26 females, 14 males) from 1993-2000 were analyzed. The mode of delivery was noted. Those babies delivered by cesarean section (n=22) were labelled group one, while those delivered vaginally (n=18) were labelled group 2. OBJECTIVE: Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a common disorder affecting children worldwide. OBJECTIVE: This study is conducted to detect quantitatively zinc in the nuclei and cytoplasm of epithelial cells of the prostate from normal, acute prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia and adenocarcinoma. METHODS: Prostatic tissues from normal, acute prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia and adenocarcinoma were obtained from patients and processed for zinc detection using x-ray microanalysis technique. The samples were collected over a period of 2-3 years and were processed at Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan.
