Objectives: To translate, validate, and adapt the diabetes distress scale (DDS)-17 to a Saudi Arabian (SA) DDS (SADDS-17). Also, to evaluate the psychometric properties of the newly adapted SADDS-17. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study evaluating the psychometric properties of the DDS. The DDS was translated using the forward-backward translation from English to Arabic at King Saud University Medical City (KSUMC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in January 2016. Objectives: To describe the association between diabetes numeracy and diabetes self-management among Saudi adults with insulin-treated diabetes. Methods: From August 2018 to January 2019, a cross-sectional study was conducted in 3 diabetes centers in Riyadh, Buraydah, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Systematic random sampling was used to include 290 Saudi adults with insulin-treated diabetes. The levels of diabetes numeracy and diabetes self-management were measured by using the Diabetes Numeracy Test tool (DNT-15) and Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire tool (DSMQ). Objectives: To evaluate the variability in perspectives between pediatric surgeons and pediatric urologists in managing cryptorchidism. Methods: We conducted this survey among pediatric surgeons and pediatric urologists managing cryptorchidism in Saudi Arabia in October 2020. We distributed a questionnaire to 187 consultants using the Google forms platform. We collected data related to the consultant’s experience, preoperative management, management of nonpalpable testes, management of palpable undescended testes, management of the cryptorchidism in special situations. Objectives: To evaluate age and gender differences in the prevalence of chronic diseases and to calculate atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk scores in adults aged 30-75 years in Riyadh city, Saudi Arabia. Methods: This cross-sectional, interview-based study was conducted with 2997 men and women, visiting primary health care centers in Riyadh, during the years 2015 to 2016. Serum glycosylated hemoglobin and lipid levels were measured by ion-exchange high-performance liquid chromatography and fully automated analyzer using enzymatic methods, respectively. Objectives: To evaluate the level of public awareness regarding cervical spine injuries among adult residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out between June and November 2020. It involved structured questionnaires, collecting information on participant socio-demographic characteristics, first responder training status, and the awareness of cervical spine trauma and suitable first aid response. Objectives: To identify practice patterns among radiation oncologists in Saudi Arabia. Methods: A questionnaire comprising 27 scientific questions and 6 demographic questions was created in 2019 by a faculty member at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and distributed among radiation oncologists in Saudi Arabia between February and April 2019. Objectives: To determine the demographic and clinical characteristics, underlying comorbidities, and outcomes of children with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. Methods: In this retrospective study, we reported 62 pediatric patients (age <14 years) with confirmed COVID-19 between March 2 and July 1, 2020, at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Results: Comorbid conditions, including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and malignant disorders, were reported in 9 patients (14.5%). The most prominent presenting complaints were fever (80.6%) and cough (48.4%). Most of our patients (80.6%) had mild disease, 11.3% had moderate disease, and 8.1% exhibited severe and critical illness. Twenty-one patients (33.9%) were hospitalized, with 4 patients (6.5%) admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit, and 3 (4.8%) patients died. Conclusion: All pediatric age groups are susceptible to COVID-19, with no gender difference. COVID-19 infection may result in critical illness and even mortality in subsets of pediatric patients.

Objectives: To evaluate the incidence and pattern of cancer in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) age group in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah region of Saudi Arabia. Methods: This retrospective histopathology-based study was conducted at a tertiary care center in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia and comprised cases of cancers for 15 years between January 2006 and December 2020. Results: During the last 15-year period, 8,769 cases of cancers were diagnosed out of which 475 (5.4%) cases were registered in AYAs. Double gallbladder is a rare anomaly and an asymptomatic condition. However, it can sometimes present with abdominal pain. Gallbladder pathology requires precise diagnosis and a surgical procedure to relieve its symptoms. Here, we discuss a case of a child suffered from a congenital heart disease who presented with double gallbladder having gallstones. The case was resolved via surgical intervention without postoperative complications.

Objectives: To compare clonidine with tramadol for shivering control following spinal anesthesia. Methods: The literature was searched updated to August 2020, and only randomized controlled trials comparing clonidine and tramadol for shivering control following spinal anesthesia were eligible for this study. Results: Fourteen studies with 960 patients were identified. Clonidine demonstrated a lower effective rate of shivering control (OR: 0.59; 95% CI: 0.40-0.88; p =0.009; I 2 =36%), but with decreased occurrence of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Clonidine increased the occurrence of bradycardia, hypotension, and sedation compared to tramadol. Conclusion: Tramadol is more effective for shivering control than clonidine, but …

Objectives: To describe the clinical and laboratory characteristic, state the treatment and outcome of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis ( JIA ) , and describe temporomandibular joint ( TMJ ) involvement as observed in a large tertiary center. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study of children diagnosed with JIA was assessed at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2015-2019), which included a descriptive analysis of children who had TMJ involvement among our study group. Objectives: To describe primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) cohort in Saudi Arabiain view in of clinical/serological/histopathological phentotype, and, diagnostic delay. Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted between October 2018 and May 2019. Diagnostic delay was calculated from symptoms onset to clinical diagnosis. The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Sjögren’s Syndrome Disease Activity Index (ESSDAI) and EULAR Sjogren’s Syndrome Patient Reported Index (ESSPRI) were calculated. Results: Forty-one patients were included in the study. There were predominantly females (78%) with a mean (±SD) age of 58.76±12.7 and disease duration of 4.6±2.28 years. Objectives: To determine the relationship between fear of falling (FOF) and upper extremity muscle strength. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 112 hospitalized, mobile patients. Forty-seven (42%) were males and 65 (58%) were females, and the mean age was 72.3. Objectives: To determine the incidence and risk factors of delirium in the cardiac care unit (CCU) and intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: This multicenter prospective observational study was conducted between July 2019 and November 2019 in the central region of Saudi Arabia. All patients admitted to the critical care units were enrolled, and their demographic data and risk factors of delirium were reported. Results: A total of 165 patients were included: 76 (46.1%) admitted to the CCU and 89 (53.9%) admitted to the ICU. The mean age was 55.1±18 years, and 45 (27.3%) were women.
