Psychologists generally consider personality to be a collection of characteristics and traits. These characteristics are manifested through two domains: affect (emotion) and cognition (thinking). Evidence has shown affect and cognition to be closely related.
Psychotherapy modalities can be categorized along a continuum, from highly rational and logical (cognitive) on one end, to highly affective on the other.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between cognitively and affectively oriented persons and irrational thoughts or ideas as defined by a highly rational therapy modality (Rational-Emotive Therapy) in an effort to determine a treatment of choice for these persons. …

During the school year 1976-77, Decatur School District #61 completed the desegregation of the schools so that they were in compliance with the plans drawn up for the State of Illinois under direction of the State Board of Education and State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joseph Cronin. This paper is an account of the programs instigated and carried out during the second year the Decatur plan was in operation in Orville Spencer School, Decatur, Illinois.
Orville Spencer School is situated in the northeast section of the city of Decatur. The population here is mainly blue-collar workers and low income families. …

This report describes an internship completed at the Business Affairs Office, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the summer of 1977.
An internship in the Business Affairs Office was chosen to enrich the intern's conceptual, human, and technical skills pertaining to school business and finance management. The intern actively participated in the daily activities and responsibilities of each of the nine departments which compose the Business Affairs Office. Three groups of rats learned a black-white discrimination in a Grice box. All subjects were reinforced with food pellets for correct choices. No-Retrace subjects were confined in the negative goal box after errors. Retrace subjects were allowed to withdraw after errors from the negative goal box to the choice point or start box. Take-Out subjects were manually removed from the goal box during errors immediately after inspecting the empty food dish. All subjects were trained to a criterion and then reversal training was instituted. Retrace subjects learned the original discrimination significantly slower than either No-Retrace or Take-Out subjects, which did …

This paper develops a guide for improved techniques in preparing office procedures primarily by enumerating the concepts of various authors pertaining to facets of a procedures manual. Examples are given illustrating the most common layouts which can be used effectively for a procedures manual, and explains when each layout may be the best method for a particular class of document or manual.
