An Examination Of Ten Personality Variables And Their Effect On Esp Clairvoyance Test Results, Terry L. Foreman
An Examination Of Ten Personality Variables And Their Effect On Esp Clairvoyance Test Results, Terry L. Foreman
Masters Theses
The purpose of this present research study was to construct a paper and pencil test that would measure college students' ability to use extra sensory perception (ESP).
During recent years it has been found that certain personality variables correlate with ESP scoring. For example, the ability to handle stress and conflict situations (Rhine, 1952; Hudesman & Schmeidler, 1971) and adaptability (Schmeidler, 1954; Shields, 1962; Stanford, 1964; Hudesman & Schmeidler, 1971) have been shown to be important personality factors in Ss who score high on ESP tests.
However, few experimenters have been able to clearly define the personality characteristics which identify …
Predicting Delinquent Sub-Types With The Social History Questionnaire, Charles S. Sulcer
Predicting Delinquent Sub-Types With The Social History Questionnaire, Charles S. Sulcer
Masters Theses
A major problem encountered in the juvenile courts concerns the large number of young offenders placed on probation, as well as the seriousness of their violations. Representative studies by Jenkins and Glickman (1947), Hathaway and Monachesi (1953), and Shinohara and Jenkins (1967) have pointed out the complexities of delinquent behavior by indicating that most legal authorities are often unable to determine who will repeat illegal acts.
This problem necessitates some objective approach toward identifying potential repeaters and non-repeaters. Such a technique would be useful in studying the early stages of delinquent behavior and provide a means of studying the growing …

The Influence Of Henry Clay Upon Abraham Lincoln Regarding Lines Of Argument On The Slavery Issue, Kenneth E. Aubens
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was: To discover the influence of Henry Clay upon Abraham Lincoln regarding lines of argument on the slavery issue. The method of procedure entailed the following: gathering all available materials related to the problem; organizing the gathered materials into the headings of Henry Clay on the slavery issue; Abraham Lincoln on the slavery issue; and Abraham Lincoln's acknowledgements to Henry Clay on the slavery issue; analyzing the materials according to support for previous writings; contradiction of previous writings; and supplement to previous writings; reporting the findings of the study; and summarizing the findings leading to …
2.5 Ampere Dc Solid State Power Controller, John Anthony Gilbert
2.5 Ampere Dc Solid State Power Controller, John Anthony Gilbert
Masters Theses
"The 2.5 Ampere DC Power Controller presented in this paper is a device which combines the properties of both relays and circuit breakers solely by means of solid state circuitry to perform the power functions that (1) provide DC power to electrical loads by means of power transistor switching, and (2) provide electrical protection by generating trip out characteristics similar to those of thermal circuit breakers. Furthermore, the control of this device is completely computer compatible, i.e., it is commandable from digital logic levels.
The text of this report discusses the requirements, specifications, and design of this power controller. In …
Design And Operation Of A System For The Measurement And Display Of A Railroad Train Length., Paul Clement Kriegshauser
Design And Operation Of A System For The Measurement And Display Of A Railroad Train Length., Paul Clement Kriegshauser
Masters Theses
"This thesis describes the design, operation, and application of a system for the automatic measurement of a railroad train length. The system is based on sensing individual wheel crossings with two commercial variable-reluctance wheel sensors. The individual wheels are not counted as they are sensed, instead the system uses the information to compute the train velocity. These sensors are separated a known distance on the railroad track at the location a length measurement is desired. The train may pass these sensors at any desired speed and in either direction. The developed system is not dependent on car length or number …
Deformation Of A System Of Clamped Thin Circular Plates With Liquid Filled Interspace., Archie Forrest Gatrost
Deformation Of A System Of Clamped Thin Circular Plates With Liquid Filled Interspace., Archie Forrest Gatrost
Masters Theses
"In this work the behavior of a system of thin, circular clamped plates with liquid-filled interspace in a variable pressure environment was investigated. Six plates separated by liquid-filled chambers were arranged in alternate layers in a clamping device and a pressure was applied on one side of the six plate system. The deformation of each plate and the pressure distribution from the high pressure to low i i pressure side was measured. The plate deformation was measured by a strain gage attached at the apex of each plate and the chamber pressure by a strain gage pressure transducer.
The results …

Lawrence Yates Sherman: United States Senator From Illinois, 1913-1921, Jerome Bentley Holstein
Lawrence Yates Sherman: United States Senator From Illinois, 1913-1921, Jerome Bentley Holstein
Masters Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to consider the political career of Lawrence Yates Sherman. Sherman, who served as United States Senator from Illinois, 1913-1921, was a colorful individual in Congress during one of the Republic's more turbulent periods. As a United States Senator, Sherman dealt with many vital issues. However, Senator Sherman is best-known for his "irreconcilable" position on the question of ratification of the Treaty of the League of Nations.
Actually, Sherman's political career was much more extensive than merely opposition to the League of Nations. Sherman was the "favorite-son" candidate of Illinois for the nomination of the …

The Effects Of Metrazol On Acquisition Of An Oddity Task In Squirrel Monkeys, Stephen Wilson
The Effects Of Metrazol On Acquisition Of An Oddity Task In Squirrel Monkeys, Stephen Wilson
Masters Theses
Recent evidence indicates that Metrazol can enhance learning in rodents provided certain variables such as genetic strain, difficulty of problem to be learned, and dosage levels are considered and carefully controlled. The effects of Metrazol on oddity acquisition in four squirrel monkeys was investigated. The apparatus employed was a modified version of the Wisconsin General Testing Apparatus. The dosage level of Metrazol was 15 mg/kg of body weight. The results suggest that Metrazol had no effect on the learning of the oddity task by the squirrel monkeys.
