A non-experimental quantitative research study and a cross-sectional predictive design was used to determine the predictive power of specifically selected cognitive and non-cognitive variables on the academic performance of second-year nursing students at a University in the Western Cape, South Africa. The cognitive predictor variables had the strongest predictive power.

In 2015, nursing faculty responded to the Virtual Patient Adoption and Integration in Nursing (VPAIN) survey. Of the 398 participants, 194 reported being part of the decision-making process to adopt asynchronous virtual patient simulations. This presentation will describe the significant differences between the decision-makers and non-decision-makers using these innovations.

A nurse-led quality improvement project was designed to improve the clinical performance of hypertension management with a focus on self-management support for adult patients at a primary care clinic in rural North Carolina. Greater than 80% of the patients set self-management goals for risk reduction of cardiovascular disease.

This qualitative study mainly explored how family situations affect sleep appraisals by 50 Chinese elderly in Taiwan (mean age = 76.3 ± 11). Family situations, such as living status, caregiving roles, and family relationship, may play roles in influencing the sleep of older adults.

The EBP literature suggests that nurses are more likely to turn to each other for answers to clinical questions. Senior students and lecturers rated the degree of student-centeredness among lecturers using the prevalidated "Principles of Adult Learning Scale" tool. Age and teaching experience were not significant factors, but class size was proven to be an important influencing factor when considering this teaching methodology.
