Common caregiver viewpoints regarding antibiotic use in school-age children were analyzed utilizing Q-methodology. An educational in-service was conducted based on the findings to improve understanding of antibiotics. A pre- and post-test survey of participants was created to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational intervention.

Family presence during a child resuscitation has become a contentious topic. Family presence during a child resuscitation is not the standard of care. Four overarching themes emerged that reflected the families perspectives. The findings support allowing families the option to be present with their child during a traumatic event.

Year long interprofessional collaboration to tackle inner city elementary schools with immunization delinquency. Researchers from UTHealth, nursing students, and various community health agencies worked together to identify root causes for vaccine delinquency. Unplanned Adverse Events (UAE) add to the length of time a patient stays in the hospital. Most events can be prevented. We developed a practical process to reduce these events by improving critical thinking and clinical decision making. The Deterioration rates of patients were improved upon over time.

Researchers conducting this study found that nursing students had an increased likelihood of a higher level of satisfaction with daily life when they self-reported healthy eating, drinking fewer energy drinks or alcohol and being in the "about the right weight" and normal body mass index (BMI) categories.

Hourly patient rounding is an evidence based practice intervention used to decrease patient falls. The implementation of an electronic whiteboard system(EWS)can decrease falls through enhancing hourly patient rounding in the acute care setting. Falls were reduced in the surgical unit from 11.17 in June 2016 to zero in June 2017.
