The study has examined the influence of the family on childhood obesity among 6 - 10 years old children in Oman. Two strong family factors linked to childhood obesity were identified and included increased maternal BMI and mothers' high level of education.

Patients may be unaware that others face similar challenges. Virtual worlds allow group access to providers. Little is known about user perceptions of these healthcare interactions. This quasi-experimental study intervention simulated education for stress management conducted by a nurse coach. Findings suggested trust and perceived effectiveness of the group setting.

New nurses need to possess leadership capacity and clinical competence. Addressing existing gaps, an undergraduate leadership clinical was adjusted, increasing leadership activities and fewer acute care hours. Comparisons will be shared concerning frequency and comfort performing clinical skills between students with 56 versus 86 hours in the acute care setting.

EHRs of more than 42,000 patients at two geographically diverse pediatric specialty clinics were analyzed to identify 1) patients approached for patient portal access and 2) activated the portal. There were moderate activation rates (18.7%); primary language, race/ethnicity, and site were significantly associated with portal adoption (p<0.001).

This qualitative study explored parent's experiences of their child undergoing gender transition. Data analysis yielded themes that begin to identify the complex nature and struggles parents face as they encounter the emotional and physical aspects of this transition. Implications for holistic nursing practice, policy and education will be discussed.

We explored patient and healthcare system related predictors of non-urgent ED visits in five community-based Canadian hospitals. Our results suggest that age, gender, time of day, care provider referral, patient diagnosis, type of hospital, mean of transportation, proximity to ED, and season were all independent predictors of non-urgent ED visits

This study tried to clarify the situation of family planning instruction. The healthcare professionals instructed few postpartum women's husbands about family planning. Married people tended to have instruction when they have unwanted pregnancies. It is necessary for married people to have family planning instruction to prevent unintended pregnancy.

Bi-dimensional acculturation (Berry's four-group acculturation) was a critical factor related to depression trajectory from the second trimester to one year postpartum. A mandatory tobacco cessation policy was established on an inpatient psychiatric unit. The numbers of negative behavioral indicators (physical/verbal agitation, use of PRN medications, restraints, isolation, and calls to security) were identified and analyzed to determine if there were significant differences before and after the policy was established.

Clinical nurses are frequently hired as part time clinical faculty. Novice nurse educators require a formal orientation program to bridge the transition. Cognitive decline variabilities after head injuries may be regulated by altered DNA methylation. We successfully profiled genome-wide blood DNA methylation associated with cognitive declines among professional fighters. Our key network findings confirmed the effect of axonal dysfunction, altered dopamine feedback in cAMP signaling, altered methylation of BDNF promoters on cognition.

Medications and supplements are used for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy (PN) used by 45 patients attending a community-based, free specialized neuropathy clinic. The etiology of PN can vary, impacting efficacy of treatment. Patients were prescribed ineffective opioids for PN showing the need for provider education and treatment guidelines.

The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore maternal feeding practices and beliefs of Hispanic mothers of preschool-age children. A convenience sample of 6 mothers were interviewed. Overall, mothers who perceived they had control over feeding practices and strong support systems had children with healthier weights.
