Predicting The Performance Of Horizontal Wells In Unconventional Gas Reservoirs, Dylan Todd Drinkard
Predicting The Performance Of Horizontal Wells In Unconventional Gas Reservoirs, Dylan Todd Drinkard
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Unconventional gas has become an increasingly important component of total U.S. domestic production for the past decade. Currently, only numerical models (simulators) can be used to predict production behavior in unconventional gas reservoirs. Numerical models are expensive and time consuming and the needed variables for evaluations are often unknown or only estimated.;This research has focused on developing a simple, quick, and reliable tool to predict gas production from horizontal wells in the unconventional gas reservoirs. This study presents a set of production type curves for coalbed methane (CBM) reservoirs. A reservoir model that incorporates the unique flow and storage characteristics …

Phase Equilibrium And Cage Occupancy Calculations Of Carbon Dioxide Hydrates Using Ab Initio Intermolecular Potentials, Srinath Chowdary Velaga
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Huge deposits of carbon is trapped in the form of methane gas hydrates, these methane gas hydrates represent a potential energy source that could possibly last for thousands of years. Gas hydrate reservoirs are receiving increased attention as potential locations for CO2 sequestration, with CO2 replacing the methane that is recovered as an energy source.;In this scenario it is very important to correctly characterize the cage occupancies of CO2 to correctly assess the sequestration potential as well as the methane recoverability. In order to predict accurate cage occupancies, the guest-host interaction potential must be represented properly. Earlier, these potential parameters …

These …
Investigation Into Pedestrian Exposure To Near-Tailpipe Exhaust Emissions, Neil A. Buzzard
Investigation Into Pedestrian Exposure To Near-Tailpipe Exhaust Emissions, Neil A. Buzzard
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Inhalation of particulate matter is known to cause negative human health effects. Consequently, regulatory agencies have set regulations and standards that limit the maximum concentrations to which persons may be exposed and the maximum concentrations allowed in the ambient air. However, these standards consider steady exposure over large spatial and time scales. Because many vehicles' exhaust systems direct exhaust towards sidewalks, pedestrians in close proximity to a roadway may experience events where for brief periods of time particulate matter concentrations are high enough to cause acute health effects. In order to quantify these exposure events, instruments which measure specific exhaust …

Coconut Oil Enhancement Of Conjugated Linoleic Acid Induced Body Fat Loss And Lipolysis In Mice, Siri Manasa Ippagunta
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) causes a body fat loss that is enhanced when mice are fed coconut oil (CO) compared to soy oil (SO). The objectives were to determine if CLA feeding altered proteins involved in lipolysis. Male mice (n = 80; 3 wk old) were fed 7% SO or CO diets for 6 wk then 0 or 0.5% CLA for 12d. A body fat index was calculated: (retroperitoneal (RP) + epididymal (EPI) fat pads)*100/body weight. Lipolysis was determined by non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) and glycerol release from EPI & RP explants. The relative expression of perilipin, phosphorylated perilipin …
Variation In, And Contributing Factors Of Placental Efficiency In Swine, Tiffany Ann Wilmoth
Variation In, And Contributing Factors Of Placental Efficiency In Swine, Tiffany Ann Wilmoth
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Placental efficiency, defined as fetal weight divided by placental weight, has been shown to be involved in litter size. Breeds that are more prolific (12-13 pigs per litter) have feto-placental units with higher placental efficiencies. However, domestic commercial breeds have much smaller litters of about 9.5 pigs per litter. Placental size is vastly different, such that high placental efficiency pigs have smaller, more vascularized placentae. Even within an individual litter two piglets with similar body weights may be grown on placentae that are different in size. The placenta of the least efficient feto-placental unit may be up to 50% bigger …

Effects Of Delayed Fat Supplementation On Post-Prandial Rumen Metabolism, Lamb Quality And Fatty Acid Composition Of Rumen Effluent, Quinn Stephan Baptiste
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Sheep farmers have an option to incorporate fat supplements into the ration of grazing ruminants. Farmers choosing this option will have to select a time for offering that supplement. It might be practical to feed the supplement in the morning or evening. However, the time at which that supplement is fed should not compromise nutrient digestion or the enhancement of ruminant product fatty acid composition. Consequently, the effects of feeding a fat enriched supplement, at a delayed time on rumen metabolism, lamb quality, and fatty acid composition of effluent digesta were investigated in three experiments. In experiment 1, treatment (time …

Hamiltonian Line Graphs And Claw -Free Graphs, Huiya Yan
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
The research of my dissertation was motivated by the conjecture of Thomassen that every 4-connected line graph is hamiltonian and by the conjecture of Matthews and Sumner that every 4-connected claw-free graph is hamiltonian. Towards the hamiltonian line graph problem, we proved that every 3-connected claw-free Z8-free graph is hamiltonian, where Z8 is obtained by identifying one end-vertex of P9 with one vertex of a triangle; let hc( G) denote the least integer m such that the iterated line graph Lm(G) is Hamilton-connected, we showed that k -- 1 ≤ hc( G) ≤ max{lcub}diam(G), k -- 1{rcub}, where k is …
The Interactions Of Cisplatin And Model Proteins Studied By Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry And Tandem Mass Spectrometry, Ting Zhao
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Protein-cisplatin interactions lie at the heart of both the effectiveness of cisplatin as an anticancer drug and side effects associated with cisplatin treatment. A greater understanding of the protein-cisplatin interactions at the molecular level can not only improve our understanding of the action of cisplatin as an anticancer drug but also inform the design of cisplatin-like agents for future use. Therefore, the interactions of cisplatin with three different model proteins were studied, which may provide theoretical basis for predicating mechanistically relevant protein-cisplatin interactions in biological fluids.;Cytochrome c (cyt c) was used as a model protein to develop a mass spectrometric …
