During the feedlot receiving period, newly weaned beef cattle face various stressors, including weaning, transportation, vaccination, and exposure to pathogens. Additionally, changes in diet and low dry matter intake contribute to nutrient deficiencies, heightening susceptibility to disease and performance declines. Therefore, we examined the effects of dietary supplementation with a multicomponent blend of prebiotics and probiotics on the health, immune status, metabolism, and performance of newly weaned beef steers during a 35-day receiving period. Previous research has shown that animals vary in the degree to which they attribute incentive salience to reward predictive cues. In Pavlovian conditioning, two behavioral phenotypes emerge: goal-tracking (GT), in which animals approach the site of the reward, and sign-tracking (ST), in which animals approach the conditioned stimulus and interact with it as if it has become a reward in its own right. ST has been associated with higher rates of impulsivity, drug reinstatement, and relapse, and is thought to confer addiction vulnerability. It explores green burial practices in Western society, delves into the history of basketry, and draws inspiration from the mutualistic effort of returning our organic energy to the Earth. The recontextualization of what “death” is and reciprocal outlooks are central to this work. Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRCD) is a peripheral membrane protein predominantly expressed in photoreceptor outer segment (OS) disc membranes with an unknown function. Several mutations in Prcd are implicated in Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) in humans. The most common “cysteine to tyrosine” (C2Y) mutation in Prcd leads to progressive retinal atrophy in multiple dog breeds and RP in humans. Canine models harboring the C2Y mutation in Prcd show disorganized OS structure with greatly attenuated photoreceptor OS renewal rates. Benzene rings are some of the most prevalent motifs found in small molecule drugs with only a few dominant substitution patterns, 1-, 1,2-, 1,4-, and 1,2,4-. Nucleophilic aromatic substitution and electrophilic aromatic substitution are traditional methods for the synthesis of substituted benzenes and are robust and commonly used by chemical manufacturers, which explains in part the observed distribution of substitution patterns. Current methods to access substituted benzenes comprise of transition-metal-catalyzed C-H activation, transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling, and aryne chemistry. Previously, our lab identified a group of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) known as linc-SPRY3 RNAs, expressed on the Y-chromosome, that play a role in radiation sensitivity by decreasing tumor burden in vitro and in vivo after radiation. First, three (^MesPDP^Ph) iron carbene complexes with electronically distinct carbene moieties were synthesized. These transitional iron carbene complexes were first characterized by ¹H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy as their spectra showed paramagnetically shifted resonances. Additionally, their respected solid state structures were collected via X-ray diffraction. The two donor/acceptor iron carbene complexes [(^MesPDP^Ph)Fe(C(CO₂Me)(4-FPh) and (^MesPDP^Ph)Fe(C(CO₂Me)(4-MeOPh)] demonstrated a weak Fe-O interaction between the iron center and ester function group while the (^MesPDP^Ph)Fe(IMe) displayed a C_2v symmetric structure in the …

The study sought to explore the impact of the New York State “Bail Reform Act of 2019,” in rurality. It examined some of the legislative goals of the law, the claim that it caused crime, and offender experiences in rurality. Secondary data was used to map the rural crime landscape and primary data was collected from offenders during face to face interviews. The study was framed using deterrence and opportunity approaches and situated within the broader field environments; legislative, courtroom, and community. Problem: Excessive intraoperative noise puts anesthesia providers at risk for errors that could negatively impact patient morbidity and mortality. In our Galaxy, these transients primarily originate from pulsars, which are rotating neutron stars. The more energetic extra-galactic transients, known as fast radio bursts (FRBs), have unknown origins. This thesis explores various techniques, including single dish and interferometric observations, to detect and accurately localize fast radio transients. After the existing clarifiers on the site were flipped to the desired pH set points, HPC was manufactured and pumped to 24 geobags. The proposed paper assesses the geological and geomechanical characteristics of the geothermal deep direct-use MIP 1S well in the Appalachian basin. The assessment utilizes a comprehensive suite of well logs, sidewall core analysis, and well injection tests to determine continuous elastic and rock strength properties. Stress and pore pressure profiling are conducted, and a validated 1D-geomechanical model is developed. This model undergoes analysis through wellbore stability assessments and comparisons with drilling events. Using a grounded theory approach, this study explored collegiate athletes’ mental health referral experiences and identified mechanisms explaining those experiences based upon perceptions of psychological need fulfillment and thwarting according to Basic Psychological Needs Theory (BPNT). Interviews were conducted with a purposive, maximum variation sample of 14 current and former collegiate athletes who were referred to mental health services by support personnel or other athletes. In this work, we address the challenge of very high-resolution histopathological image (VHRHI) classification using a new information-theoretic discriminative patch selection approach. We show results on a high-resolution image dataset, namely, gigapixel whole slide tissue images for cancer tumors. Then we address how to efficiently classify challenging histopathology images, such as gigapixel whole-slide images for cancer diagnostics with image-level annotation. Feedback is critical in these processes, allowing organisms to filter redundant information and respond effectively to relevant stimuli. In humans, for example, the cerebellar flocculus provides feedback to the vestibulo-ocular reflex to stabilize eye movements during body rotation.
