Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine proximal tibial IMU accelerations between the involved limb and uninvolved limbs of individuals who have undergone ACL reconstruction performing the single-leg hop test battery and to correlate these results to deficits in quadriceps strength and distance hopped. Methods: Thirty-four subjects (19 male, 15 female; age = 20.5 ± 6.7 years; mass = 76.4 ± 15.8 kg; height = 1.74 ± .08 cm) who have undergone unilateral ACL reconstruction were recruited for this study. Brand activism—the explicit demonstration of a brand’s sociopolitical beliefs—has become increasingly prevalent and consequential. Concurrently, consumers now hold higher expectations for firms to engage in sociopolitical conversations, driven by the rise of belief-drive purchase in consumers’ decision-making and the growing ideological polarization worldwide. This research examines the relationship between nonprofit overhead ratios and performance, specifically focusing on United Way affiliates. The study analyzes Form 990 data from 2010 to 2022, employing fixed effect regression models to examine the potential circular relationship between overhead spending and total revenue. The findings suggest that while current overhead rates are positively correlated with revenue, they may yield diminishing returns. Furthermore, population subgroups are examined by assets, overhead rate, and revenues spectrums to provide more nuanced insight. This thesis critically examines how mainstream media outlets construct and perpetuate racial narratives through their coverage of high-profile incidents involving Black public figures. Using the case study of NFL player Tyreek Hill’s encounter with Miami-Dade police on September 8, 2024, the research employs Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Critical Race Theory (CRT) to analyze news articles from six major outlets: The New York Times, NBC News, CBS News, ESPN, Fox News and CNN. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is a critical biomarker for heart failure, but manual estimation from echocardiograms is time-consuming. Artificial intelligence can be used to accelerate this process, allowing clinicians to focus on other critical tasks. Current methods typically train models from scratch on echocardiogram datasets; however, this approach is limited by the scarcity of large medical imaging datasets, which are expensive and difficult to acquire. Breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed malignancy and the leading cause of cancer related deaths in women. This is primarily due to distant metastases, which highlight the necessity to understand factors that contribute to breast cancer progression. Emerging evidence associates decreased tumor xanthine oxidoreductase (XOR) expression with a poorer prognosis, increased recurrence, and a more aggressive phenotype. While healthy liver, intestines, kidneys, and breast tissue have robust XOR expression and activity, there is a tendency for this to be ablated in carcinogenesis. This study investigates how national and local U.S. news outlets framed George Floyd, Black Lives Matter protesters, and the surrounding protests in the immediate aftermath of Floyd’s death. Through a qualitative content analysis of YouTube news broadcasts posted between May and June 2020, coupled with thematic analysis of popular comments that viewers posted in response, this research explores media narratives and public understanding of a pivotal moment of an ongoing racial justice movement. Understanding the extent that anglers targeting stocked trout end up harvesting wild Brook Trout Salvelinus fontinalis addition to studying how non-native trout species affect native Brook Trout populations is important for effective management and conservation in the central Appalachian Mountains. As part of ongoing efforts to establish a domestic Rare Earth Elements (REE) supply chain, Hydraulic Preconcentrate (HPC) generated at the Horseshoe Bend (HsB) treatment plant was produced and evaluated as a potential feedstock source. Following adjustment of the site’s clarifiers to the required pH set points, HPC was collected and pumped into 24 geobags. These geobags were passively dewatered to raise the total solids content. The evaluation included three geobag types: woven geotextile, composite (woven and non-woven), and geobags enhanced with Capillary Channel Fiber (CCF) (Bird, 2024). This research explores the development of a biocompatible, natural drug delivery system designed for targeted cancer therapy. Lung cancer cells are used in these particular tests, but further research indicates treatment could be used for various cancer types. Traditional cancer treatments like chemotherapy are often limited by poor selectivity for tumor cells, causing significant damage to healthy tissues. Press-brake-formed tub girders have welded internal angle bracing that is believed to be necessary for torsional stability under eccentric loading. However, this bracing creates fatigue weld hotspots overtime, which are subject to cracking. This study was performed to assess the torsional behavior of the Valmont U12 press-brake-formed tub girder (PBFTG) under various configurations using finite element analysis (FEA) modeling and experimental laboratory testing. A major setback for the establishment of short rotation coppice willow plantations is the control of competition from weeds. Weed competition has been found to cause increased mortality which lowers biomass yields when left uncontrolled. Mechanical weed control methods are the most used method of weed control, but their use can be complicated by cost, labor availability and site topography. Chemical weed control is also complicated by the fact that willow species are particularly sensitive to herbicides. Across three trials, we screen 11 herbicides for their potential to control weeds without significantly decreasing the vertical growth of willow trees. This …

A field scale mobile dewatering cell was constructed and demonstrated to investigate the filtration efficiency and dewatering characteristics of the cell. The cell was tested using hydraulic preconcentrate (HPC) from an active AMD treatment plant located in the Morgantown, WV area. HPC is a sludge-like material that comes from a two-stage treatment process of acid mine drainage, and it contains various rare earth elements. The cell was filled with HPC over time and the influent HPC and effluent water exiting the cell were tested each time the cell was filled.
