Significant differences between the two types of lunch were determined using ANOVA and Tukeys Test (HSD.UEN), p < 0.05.;School lunches were nutritionally superior (p < 0.01) for protein, vitamin A, vitamin D, riboflavin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B 12, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, and dietary fiber; (p < 0.05) for calcium and niacin.;After considering food waste, intake from school lunch remained significantly higher (p < 0.01) for vitamin D, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, magnesium, and zinc; (p < 0.05) for riboflavin, vitamin B 6, folate, and calcium.;It was also noted that intake of milk and other dairy foods was higher (p < 0.01) from school lunches.
Patient Satisfaction Among Injured High School And College Athletes And Its Association With Rehabilitation Adherence And Compliance, Joni L. Cramer Roh
Patient Satisfaction Among Injured High School And College Athletes And Its Association With Rehabilitation Adherence And Compliance, Joni L. Cramer Roh
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Patient satisfaction is an important measure for quality of care and has been observed for several decades (DiPalo, 1997; Merkouris, Ifantopoulos, Lanara, & Lemonidou, 1999; Wolf, Putnam, James, & Stiles, 1978; Zyzanski, Hulka, & Cassel, 1974). Based on theory, patient satisfaction has been suggested to be a means for patient attendance and quality of effort during rehabilitation, which would then impact the recovery rate (DiPalo, 1997; Press, 1994). Recently, patient satisfaction athletes received from their sports medicine professional (i.e., athletic trainer, physiotherapist) in the athletic training rooms and clinics have also been explored (Albohm & Wilkerson, 1999; Taylor & May, …

The Relation Of Anxiety Sensitivity And Coping Strategy To Carbon Dioxide-Induced Anxious And Fearful Responding., Adam Peter Spira
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
The present study examined hypotheses regarding the relations among anxiety sensitivity (AS), coping strategy, and anxious responding to a 10-minute inhalation of 10% CO2-enriched air. Elevated scores on several subscales of the Anxiety Sensitivity Index - Revised (ASI-R) predicted CO2-induced panic symptoms. In addition, avoidant coping strategies were predictive of CO2-induced anxious and fearful responding. A composite of subscales from the COPE Inventory predicted aspects of challenge-induced anxiety that were not predicted by the ASI. Although results support contemporary models of panic disorder, our findings also indicate that AS may not be as important to the development and maintenance of …

The objectives of this study were to: 1) determine the length of time necessary to create lesions of adequate depth, an intact surface zone, and a distinct body of the lesion zone; 2) determine if different wavelengths of argon laser irradiation (457-501nm or 457 514nm) of non-pumiced and non-etched enamel provided different levels of resistance to demineralization; 3) determine if different wavelengths of argon laser irradiation (457 501nm or 457-514nm) of pumiced and etched enamel provided different …
Object-Oriented Expert System Design: Texpert., Maryam Farmani
Object-Oriented Expert System Design: Texpert., Maryam Farmani
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Object-Orientation is a powerful approach to managing complexity, which has received widespread attention in the past few years. Object-Oriented Design is based on a small number of basic concepts: object, classes, operations and relationships. Some important relationships are inheritance, message passing, and encapsulation. Different methods and notations have been proposed within this paradigm, and a Unified Modeling Language has been developed based on several of these methods. Most rule-based expert systems are not flexible enough to handle problems that mix logical deductions, rule-based inferences, and procedure execution, but mixed problems are common in modern society. Management decisions, for example, are …

Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Decreases Lipopolysaccharide (Lps)-Induced Cell Death In Rat Alveolar Macrophages., William Scott Poling
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a potent anti-inflammatory neuropeptide that inhibits the function of activated macrophages, inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α and enhances production of the antiinflammatory cytokine IL-10 in lipopolysacharide (LPS)-stimulated peritoneal macrophages. The present study describes the effect of VIP on cell death resulting from LPS exposure on rat alveolar macrophages in vitro. The experiments show that VIP attenuates cell death in LPS-treated alveolar macrophages. The results suggest that the anti-inflammatory action of VIP in LPS-treated lungs may be important in limiting pulmonary inflammatory responses to LPS
