The study was designed to partially investigate the possible relationship between tele viewing and classroom work. The purpose of this thesis was to compare numbers of hours spent watching television with semester grammar grades and to compare quality of programs, from a grammatical point of view, with semester grammar grades to try to determine whether or not the amount of television watched and/or the types of programs watched were related to grades in grammar.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how drama programs at state colleges and universities in the United States are financed. A secondary purpose of the study was to discover the extensiveness of these drama programs. Answers from a survey-questionnaire serve as the basis for the information and conclusions. In an attempt to limit the scope of the study, only the state supported schools were chosen.

The initial purpose of the study was to correlate grades with activities to determine if there were any effects such as scholastic benefit or detriment derived from participation in various activities. An attempt was also made to investigate apparent groupings of students as to types and numbers of activities engaged in and their effects on grade point average, and to locate any types of activities which appeared to hinder or abet scholastic achievement.

The level of soil moisture at the time of small grain planting is very often low and many farmers are hesitant to invest in fertilizer for small grain. In May, when the moisture outlook generally improves and when nitrogen deficiency symptoms have appeared in the small grain, farmers are interested in knowing if the application of fertilizer will still give a profitable response. Bloat is a complex and confusing syndrome involving an interaction of plant and animal factors. Many “toxic” principles of plants have been incriminated either by directly inhibiting rumen motility and eructation or indirectly by changing the physical characteristics of the rumen ingests. The clay minerals are extremely important constituents of the inorganic solid phase of the soil primarily because of their ability to adsorb cations. Some clay minerals are capable of adsorbing certain cations so tenaciously, that these ions cannot be readily extracted with a neutral solution of a salt. Potassium and ammonium are nutrient cations that may suffer a decrease in their availability to plants by this phenomenon, which is commonly referred to as cation fixation. In designing a heat exchanger, an engineer is interested in the highest possible efficiency of the unit. If he is designing a transistor with an internal heat source, he is interested in dissipating this heat energy to the surrounding air or heat sink. In these and other devices, the engineer wants a design that gives a maximum heat loss, or heat transfer, per unit of base surface. The objective of this research was to find a method of eliminating a high percentage of the tender genotypes in a population of apples before planting the seed. The introduction of apple culture into the Great Plains and adjacent Canadian provinces confronted horticulturists with the problem of winter hardiness. Thousands of seedlings of standard varieties were planted in an attempt to find varieties sufficiently hardy for this region of North America. A number of different substances provide varying degrees of protection against selenium poisoning. Several workers have reported a protective effect shown by proteineous materials. Of these, one researcher found linseed oil meal to be superior to other materials tested. Further studies have led to the partial separation of selenium protective factor from linseed oil meal. The studies described here were undertaken as a continuation of the effort to separate and attempt to identify the selenium protective principle or principles known to be present in linseed oil meal. Several different approaches were used and are discussed.

The primary objective of this study would be to determine the interrelationships of various language skills. For example, if one skill is more highly related at all others, we might suppose that is could be used as a “core” or pivotal area around which others would be taught. The minor objective of this study would be determine the degree of improvement among students in several skill areas. How much improvement was made? And in what areas did the students improve? However, it would probably be beyond the purpose of this study to offer adequate appraisals of the program.
