The Economic Feasibility Of Confinement Feedlots And The Analysis Of Seasonal Marketing Variations For Feeder Cattle In South Dakota, Daniel W. Francke Jan 1974

The Economic Feasibility Of Confinement Feedlots And The Analysis Of Seasonal Marketing Variations For Feeder Cattle In South Dakota, Daniel W. Francke

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

South Dakota apparently produces an adequate quantity of feeders and feed grains to substantially increase slaughter cattle production. Furthermore, South Dakota prices for feed grain, roughage, and feeder cattle are equal to, or less than, the prices for these inputs in other areas where cattle feeding has flourished in recent years. It should also be determined how South Dakota farmers might increase fat cattle production. Therefore, in an attempt to explain South Dakota's slow cattle feeding growth and possibly help farmers in South Dakota and neighboring areas develop the cattle feeding industry, the following problems were researched. First, this area …

Inversion In Chlorophytum Elatum, Carolyn A. Gregory Jan 1974

Inversion In Chlorophytum Elatum, Carolyn A. Gregory

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The spider plant, Chlorophytum elatum R. Br., is a member of the lily family. It originated in south Africa and has spread all over the world as an ornamental plant. The plant occasionally sets seeds, but its propagation depends mainly on vegetative means. This method of reproduction provides the plant with chances or extended exposures to various environmental stresses, and genic and/or chromosomal mutations may result. In one of the Chlorophytum stocks maintained in the Botany greenhouse, Chen first noted that heterozygous inversion existed. Further cytological observation of another stock morphologically similar to the one Chen observed also revealed the …

The Effect Of Market Weight And Ration Concentrate Level On Carcass Traits Of Bulls, Heifers And Steers, Peter B. Smith Jan 1974

The Effect Of Market Weight And Ration Concentrate Level On Carcass Traits Of Bulls, Heifers And Steers, Peter B. Smith

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Increasing worldwide demand for animal protein, growing pressure on the available cereal grains by a multiplying world population and greater availability of United States agricultural products worldwide make it imperative that beef volume and production efficiency increase. Consumer demand for a lean, high quality, trim product dictates production of rapid growing, efficient beef animals with minimum fat deposition at market weights. In the face of increasing demand, governmental constraints in the form of economic controls, ecological considerations and restrictions in the use of antibiotics and growth promoting agents force the beef industry to examine and improve production efficiency. Currently, packers …

A Case Study Of The Economic Impact Of The 3m Company Of The Brookings Community, Dwight G. Uhrich

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Communities can pursue a program of industria1 deve1opment by attracting new industry and/or encountering the expansion of existing industry. The second set of questions involves determining the economic impact of the business on the community.” The first set of questions is not within the scope of this study; however, the second set will be considered and data.
