Comparison Of Theoretical, Laboratory And Field Discharge Ratings For A Closed Conduit Spillway, Fred A. Schmer
Comparison Of Theoretical, Laboratory And Field Discharge Ratings For A Closed Conduit Spillway, Fred A. Schmer
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Comparing theoretical and laboratory model discharge rating curves for a small discharge structure is relatively easy, but obtaining reliable field data on the prototype for additional comparison sometimes presents formidable problems. Generally, the construction and testing of a model and a corresponding prototype to obtain comparisons is not economically feasible. In this particular case, the reverse order of development was employed, and a model was constructed of an existing field structure. Data was obtained from both the laboratory and field studies and theoretical, laboratory, and field comparisons made. It was the desire of the author to substantiate criteria on which …
Group Theoretical Investigation Of Octahedral And Cuboctahedral Bonding, David Peckham Olsen
Group Theoretical Investigation Of Octahedral And Cuboctahedral Bonding, David Peckham Olsen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The behavior of electrons in molecules is governed by quantum mechanical laws – insofar as we can tell. A quantitative check has proved impossible for all except the simplest systems, such as the H2+ and H2 molecules. Generally, severe approximations have to be made. The procedure that is supported by spectral measurements is the molecular orbital method. Indeed, energy levels of many systems can be classified in molecular orbital configurations, while a similar explanation is not possible in terms of valence-bond or hybridization description. In the work reported here, group theoretical methods have been used to obtain symmetry orbitals that …
A Linear Programming Approach To The Optimum Farm Organizations For Selected Farm Sizes Under Dryland And Partially Irrigated Conditions In The Missouri Slope Region Of The Oahe Unit, Kenwood James Gors
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
What will the optimum farm organizations yield in terms of net income to the farmer? The purpose of this study was to answer this question for the selected farm sizes. The question was answered through the use of linear programming. The selected farm sizes were 640, 1280, and 2560 acre dryland farms and 560, 1080, and 2240 acre partially irrigated farms. The supply of labor available was 240 man hours per month and 2500 total man hours per year from the farm operator and his family and also whatever more could be profitably hired. The farm was completely operator owned …
Bonding In Octahedral Structures And Symmetric Organic Structures With Attached Phenyl Groups, Leon Duane Crossman
Bonding In Octahedral Structures And Symmetric Organic Structures With Attached Phenyl Groups, Leon Duane Crossman
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This paper examines and obtains the bonding levels for the two octahedral structures Ta6Cl12+2 and Mo6Cl8+4. Some similarity is expected between these two. This similarity is evident when we compare total bonding strengths. To evaluate the total bonding strengths, the researcher neglects interactions between different orbitals as an approximation. This approximation is valid since the downward shift of the Flu levels is the same for both structures and the shift downward of the F2u level in Mo6Cl8+4 is similar in magnitude of the shift of the F2g level in Ta6Cl12+2.

A Comparison Of Some Limnological Changes Caused By The Brookings Sewage Treatment Plant On Six-Mile Creek And The Big Sioux River, Richard Ruelle
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Introduction: In the days of the early pioneers in South Dakota and other sparsely settled areas, there was no problem in finding a sufficient supply of water for drinking, cooking, and washing purposes. The problems of waste disposal were taken care of by the microorganisms in the soil, the microorganisms easily being able to keep pace with the few settlers. As cities and towns began to form, usually along a stream where there was an abundant supply of fresh water, sewage disposal became a growing problem. The easiest way to get rid of the sewage was to dump it into …
