Growth Rates Of Yellow Perch, Perca Flavescens (Mitchell), In Two North Dakota Lakes After Population Reduction With Toxaphene, Donald C. Warnick
Growth Rates Of Yellow Perch, Perca Flavescens (Mitchell), In Two North Dakota Lakes After Population Reduction With Toxaphene, Donald C. Warnick
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Fishery waters overpopulated with desirable species generally produce few harvestable fish because of slow growth rates. In 1962 Bennett stated that no fish of harvestable were found in some waters thus affected. Eschmeyer (1936) made a similar observation concerning overcrowded populations of yellow perch (Perca flavescens). For lack of more efficient remedial measures the use of piscicides has been recommended to reduce the numbers the numbers of the problem species. Relatively low toxaphene concentrations in two North Dakota lakes substantially reduced the density of the yellow perch population the effect on other fish species was less obvious. The results reported …

Oxygen Diffusion In Homogeneous Soil, Robert I. Papendick
Oxygen Diffusion In Homogeneous Soil, Robert I. Papendick
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A mathematical model based on the diffusion theory of gases was developed to account for the oxygen status of a moist soil. The theoretical development has its basis in the differential equation for diffusion which has been modified in include the oxygen consumption factor or activity of the soil. Solutions of the modified equation were obtained for the case where (1) the activity factor was a constant over a given time interval, and (2) the activity factor varied with time. A means for expressing the activity factor mathematically when it occurs as a complicated function of time has been proposed. …
A Comparison Of The Success Of Teaching Machines And The Programed Text To That Of The Traditional Teaching Based On A Survey Of Literature And Research Reports, Robert E. Christianson
A Comparison Of The Success Of Teaching Machines And The Programed Text To That Of The Traditional Teaching Based On A Survey Of Literature And Research Reports, Robert E. Christianson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Programmed learning, still in the embryonic stage, has brought with it new hope for some of the answers to our mass educational problems of a rapidly expanding curriculum, broadened individual differences, and an increasing pupil teacher ratio. Teaching efficiency may be brought to an optimum level by constructing teaching machines and programmed texts as developed by S. L. Pressey. This study attempted to compare the effectiveness of traditional educational practices with those using the programed text and the teaching machine. The survey of literature and the use of research findings were used as a basis for the comparison. The investigator …
A Study Of The Methods Of Labor Procurement In South Dakota, Bert H. Buckbee
A Study Of The Methods Of Labor Procurement In South Dakota, Bert H. Buckbee
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The inability of printing plant managers to secure new employees in South Dakota is becoming a problem. Economic factors, such as the wage scale and working hours, as well as mobility within the labor force, add to this problem. This mobility in the labor force stems from the tendency of the younger worker to seek better working conditions. Adaptability to new jobs may be one cause of the shifting labor force. The lack of a definite procedure for hiring employees results in the hiring of some persons without the aptitude for printing. The printing industry, according to the U.S. Department …
