A Study Of Disturbed And Maladjusted Indian Children, Winifred T. Echelberger
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In this study of disturbed and maladjusted Indian children, the author hoped to show that there is a need for more knowledge in this field, that there is an increase in the number of emotionally upset Indian children, and that the socio-economic structure of the home area is a contributing factor in the problem. The results of a questionnaire showed that other workers with Indian youth did indeed feel that there are a large number of disturbed and maladjusted Indian children in many areas where Indian citizens comprise a high percentage of the general population such as many areas in …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This paper presents a study of the helminth endoparasite of the Chinese or ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). The digestive and respiratory tracts of 262 pheasants, all of which were collected in Brown County, South Dakota, were examined. Collections were ,made from January, 1961, through November of the same year. The problem was divided as follows: (1) locating and Identifying the helminth parasites, (2) relating parasitism to the age of the birds, (3) ascertaining the seasonal distribution of the parasites, and (4) determining what gross pathological changes were due to parasitism. The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Analyses Of Some Geometric Isomers., Thomas H. Crawford
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Analyses Of Some Geometric Isomers., Thomas H. Crawford
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The research problem presented herein involved the structural determination of several a,~-unsaturated acids and esters. The solution to this problem was sought in the nuclear magnetic resonance (n.m.r.) spectra of these compounds. The n.m.r. approach to structural problems in organic chemistry has been investigated extensively in the past ten years and it has proven to be an extremely powerful tool for this type of analysis. The data used in the structural determinations are presented in tabulated fo~, and in. the appendix tracings of the original spectra may be found. Each compound is discussed separately with respect to its probable structure …
The Effect Of A Weight Training Program Upon Strength And Trunk Flexibility Of Football Players At South Dakota State College, David H. Greenwood
The Effect Of A Weight Training Program Upon Strength And Trunk Flexibility Of Football Players At South Dakota State College, David H. Greenwood
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In the past several years, the use of progressive resistance exercises has increased to the point where it is widely accepted as one of the best methods of increasing strength. The popularization of such exercises has brought about the establishment of weight training programs by football coaches for the purpose of increasing strength between seasons. To effectively increase strength through such exercises, proper methods must be maintained. The use of improper methods of exercise may result in an increase in endurance, where an increase in strength is desired. Weight training is an ideal form of exercise for the development of …

A Study Of Selected Factors Which May Be Associated With The Imminent Migration Of Individuals From The Lower Brule Indian Reservation, Frank C. Estes
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Pages of history are filled with the recording of man’s movement from an area of lesser opportunity to one with a more favorable environment for security and happiness. The Dakota people too were lured toward “greener pastures” like countless ages of people have been. However, the needy migrant (particularly the Indian) in American life may well find himself a virtual outcast, not only from his own parent group for forsaking his “gemeinschaft” affiliations, but because the migrant is not yet a legally-qualified resident of the new community. In spite of the unforeseeable shortcomings which any migrant may encounter, however, migration …
Genetic Similarity Of Colchicine-Induced Grass-Type Mutants In Sorghum, Jane-Ru Po Chen
Genetic Similarity Of Colchicine-Induced Grass-Type Mutants In Sorghum, Jane-Ru Po Chen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The induction of true-breeding diploid mutants in certain varieties of Sorghum Vulgare Pers. by application of 0.5 per cent colchicine in lanolin to the coleoptile of the seedlings has been previously reported. Both cytological and genetical evidences obtained by various investigators have indicated the occurrence of gene mutations previous to or concurrent with the reduction division. The repeated occurrence of mutants with identical phenotypes involving whole complexes of characters raises the problem of whether identical major chromatin rearrangements or identical mutagenic effects are responsible. This study was designed to determine whether the phenotypically similar mutants are also genotypically similar. Genetical …
