An Evaluation Of Football Injuries In South Dakota High Schools During The 1975 Season, Micheal George Keough
An Evaluation Of Football Injuries In South Dakota High Schools During The 1975 Season, Micheal George Keough
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine the number, location, cause, and frequency of occurrence of football injuries that occurred during the1975 season in South Dakota high schools. An assessment of time-loss due to injury and the extent of medical supervision and care was also included. A second problem was to analyze the data and to formulate recommendations for the improvement of injury prevention and treatment programs.
Correlates Of Leadership Attractedness Among Instrumental And Expressive Voluntary Service Organizations In Fall River And Meade Counties Of South Dakota, William Wakefield
Correlates Of Leadership Attractedness Among Instrumental And Expressive Voluntary Service Organizations In Fall River And Meade Counties Of South Dakota, William Wakefield
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A study of the voluntary service organizations in Fall River and Meade counties of South Dakota was conducted during 1975 to determine: 1. The various voluntary associations in Fall River and Meade counties and their functions. 2. The leaders of the various voluntary associations in these two counties, their socioeconomic characteristics, and their attractedness to these organizations. 3. Whether those leaders who are characterized as either instrumental or expressive members have joined voluntary associations because of the association's perceived instrumental or expressive orientation, or because of some other not so apparent reasons. The respective leader of the voluntary associations is …
Characterization Of Cell-Cell Interactions In Normal And Tw32 Homozygous Preimplantation Mouse Embryos, Phyllis M. Johnson
Characterization Of Cell-Cell Interactions In Normal And Tw32 Homozygous Preimplantation Mouse Embryos, Phyllis M. Johnson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Immediate objectives of the following studies were to characterize and compare normal versus lethal mutant (tW32/tW32) cellular interactions during preimplantation mouse development. Principal experimental methods used included embryo culture and microscopy. Control and mutant embryos were analyzed in vitro to identify chronological events and phenotypic characteristics of tW32 homozygotes. Cell-cell associations of uncompacted and compacted 8-cell control (ICR) embryos were analyzed by quantitative electron microscopy. Lastly, light microscopic analyses were performed on control and mutant (tW32/tW32) morulae.
Growth, Reproduction And Blood Characteristics Of Hereford Females, Harold R. King
Growth, Reproduction And Blood Characteristics Of Hereford Females, Harold R. King
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The objective of this experiment was to measure the effects of level of wintering nutrition and pasture treatment upon growth and reproduction of Hereford heifers from weaning to 4 1/2 years of age. Levels of certain blood constituents were determined at periodic intervals throughout the study as additional indicators of adequacy in intake for some major nutrients and for measures of general health of the animals. Data pertaining to weight and feed are reported in the English system, even though the metric system was used in the Review of Literature section. This was considered desirable in view of present common …
Intake And Digestibility Of Brown-Midrib Corn Silage By Lactating Dairy Cows, James Allen Rook
Intake And Digestibility Of Brown-Midrib Corn Silage By Lactating Dairy Cows, James Allen Rook
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Two short-term trials evaluated brown-midrib-3 (bm3) mutant (low lignin) corn silage for early lactation Holstein cows. In trial 1, five cows per group were individually fed a ration of silage and grain (60:40 ratio, dry matter basis) from week 2 through 8 of lactation. Lignin percentages for bm3 and normal silages were 4.9 and 6.4. Cattle fed the bm3 ration consumed 19% more total dry matter as percent of body weight than cows fed normal. Digestibilities of dry matter, cell-wall contents, acid detergent fiber, and energy were 3 to percentage units higher for the bm3 …
Utilization Of Fly Ash In The Removal Of Orthophosphate From Water Samples, Marla Rae Behm
Utilization Of Fly Ash In The Removal Of Orthophosphate From Water Samples, Marla Rae Behm
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The ability of different fly ash samples to remove orthophosphate from standard phosphate solutions and from wastewater samples is reported. The results of studies to determine the temperature, the amount of fly ash, and the time necessary for maximum orthophosphate removal are included. The mode of action, whether by absorption onto the fly ash or by a precipitation reaction with one or more of the soluble components from the fly ash, is also investigated. The chemical compounds present in the fly ash, as determined by x-ray diffraction, are also included.
Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis Virus Induced Mammalian And Mosquito Cell Volume Changes As Detected With The Coulter Counter, Richard H. Fulker
Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis Virus Induced Mammalian And Mosquito Cell Volume Changes As Detected With The Coulter Counter, Richard H. Fulker
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The need exists for a detection system which is specific in its diagnosis of viruses. The system presented in this investigation uses antiserum treated virus infected cell cultures to establish specificity. The need exists for an automated virus detection system. The system described in this thesis uses the Boulter Counter, a computer analysis, and a simplified procedure which makes the system suitable and automation. The need also exists for an inexpensive virus detection system. The system proposed in this investigation uses no expensive animal facilities and it will require reduced man-hours. The final need of a virus detection system is …

The Effect Of An In-Season Weight Training Program On The Muscular Strength Of Intercollegiate Football Players, James E. Willet
The Effect Of An In-Season Weight Training Program On The Muscular Strength Of Intercollegiate Football Players, James E. Willet
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Intercollegiate football has become highly competitive over the past decade. As new records are set each year, offensively as well as defensively, it is imperative that players maintain a high level of strength throughout the competitive season. Ample investigations have been conducted in off-season weight training; however, there are few investigations pertaining to the use of a weight training program during the competitive season. McKay believes that while a weight training program must develop strength and endurance in the muscles used in playing the game, the program must not reduce the players’ reflexes or speed. At one time, in-season weight …
