Drain Modulation Of The Field-Effect Transistor Amplifier, John C. Lietz Feb 1968

Drain Modulation Of The Field-Effect Transistor Amplifier, John C. Lietz

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Rapid transmission of inforn1ation from one point to another is extremely vital to our modern society. Millions of messages are transmitted each day through a variety of communication systems. A large majority of these systems rely upon some type of modulation process. The word "modulate" did not originate in the communications field. Like many other terms it was adopted because it aptly described the process to which it is now commonly associated. Basically the term means: to adjust; to regulate; to change; to alter; to vary; or to inflect as with the voice. For example, speaking and singing are both …

Comparison Of Electric Strength Of Nitrogen And C4f8 Various Wave Shapes, John David Vinatieri Feb 1968

Comparison Of Electric Strength Of Nitrogen And C4f8 Various Wave Shapes, John David Vinatieri

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

All the electrical equipment involved in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy is exposed to switching surges and the effects of lightning voltages to some degree. Even the most modern protective devices, such as lightning arrestors, require a finite time to operate. Thus the insulation in generators, transformers, and switchgear must withstand high impulse voltages for the very short time required for protective devices to conduct the lightning voltages and switching surges to ground. The use of gases as insulation in electrical equipment offers certain advantages over the more conventional liquids and solids. In recent years attempts to …

Program Instruction In Use Of Lithographic Camera, Clayton Ransom Kinney Feb 1968

Program Instruction In Use Of Lithographic Camera, Clayton Ransom Kinney

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Programmed learning is probably as old as mankind. In theory the essentials of this method consist of three major interdependent factors; 1) immediate feedback or knowledge to the learner of the adequacy of the responses, 2) the presenting of material in small enough units to allow rapid assimilation and reinforcement, and 3) the arrangement of such units in a sequence which continues to build upon and reinforce the prior learning. It would be difficult to believe that some of the more apt to teach of any generation would not have capitalized upon such a program in presenting to an apprentice …

Proteins are defined as organic compounds formed as polymers of amino acids. The structural characteristics of the individual proteins enable them to act as catalysts (enzymes) and thus control the rate of all biological reactions, to serve as carriers for biologically important substances in the organism, to regulate physiological relationships as hormones, and to serve as structural components for subcellular, cellular and other organic substances. Previous research has indicated that for optimum utilization of amino acids to occur the required amino acids must be present at the site where synthesis of the organic substances takes place. These required amino acids …

An Experimental Investigation Into The Effect Of Density Of Ink Film Thickness On Dot Area Changes On An Offset Press, Jon Ralph Braswell

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

One of the biggest difficulties in the evaluation and control of high quality printed reproductions arises from the fact that no matter how carefully the halftones and tints are made, there is no assurance that their dot areas and densities will be faithfully reproduced on the printed sheet. Image size can be changed in platemaking, contacting or presswork. Assuming that the image or original dot areas get to the press unchanged by intermediate steps, there are still several variables which can affect the image areas on the press. The ink film thickness can either cause slur or spreading of small …
