Ultrastructure Of American Licorice (Glycyrrhiza Lepidota Pursh) Leaf Cells And An Associated Rust Pathogen (Uromyces Glycyrrhizae (Rab.) Magn.), Richard Wynia

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

American licorice is a herbaceous, perennial, native legume common to disturbed areas, draws, woods, and depressions in prairies and pastures over much of temperate North America. It is utilized by livestock in the Great Plains and produces nutritious and highly digestible forage. However, forage value or use reports for this species have been inconsistent. Reports ranged from "relished by livestock" to "withstands excessive use" depending on location of utilization and author cited. Glycyrrhiza contains tannic acid and palatability of some forage legumes has been influenced by their tannic acid content. Severe natural infections of rust were noted in a licorice …

The Relationship Between Obesity And Fertility In The Lethal Yellow Mouse (Ay/A; C57bl/6j), Kim William Jeppesen

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The lethal yellow gene, (Ay) is a genetic mutation in mice which causes a number of defects. First described in 1905 by Cuenot, the Ay/- mouse has been the subject of one hundred or more studies. Yet, primary genetic and molecular lesions caused by Ay remain unknown. Cuenot reported that Ay caused three aberrant phenotypic alterations; these included yellow coat color, obesity, and embryonic lethality in Ay homozygous embryos (Ay/Ay). Since 1905, a number of other Ay-induced abnormalities have been reported. Among these aberrations is Ay-induced reproductive senescence. It is this particular Ay character (i.e. reproductive failure of Ay/- mice) …

Dialect Geography In South Dakota : The Eureka Dialect, Christie Steiger Delfanian

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In the late nineteenth century, diverse social and economic conditions in Europe caused immigration to America. The European experiences of these pioneers continued to influence their reactions against the pressure to assimilate into a Midwestern culture. Of the German people who settled in the Dakotas, the German Russians, particularly those who homesteaded in the Eureka, South Dakota area, formed one of the most culturally cohesive communities. When two major railroad companies were recruiting settlers for the Eureka area, the Germans from Russia were looking for an escape from the increasing pressure to blend into Russian society. Common Work Space Of Two Robot Arms, Byung Oh Choi Feb 1985

Common Work Space Of Two Robot Arms, Byung Oh Choi

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The choice of kinematic and dynamic parameters for a robot arm depends on the desired working space, desired load lifting capacity, and desired performance of the robot. The inverse process, which is the determination of a single robot's work space from given specifications, is also possible, and is very important both to the designers and to the users. Proceeding further, the analysis of the common work space of two robot arms expands our understanding of spatial limitations of the communicating, cooperative robots of the future. This thesis presents a new possible application of industrial robots in which two robots work …
