Community colleges enroll large numbers of students each year. However, their retention rates are dismal and have remained stagnant for more than 30 years. The low retention rates have serious implications for community colleges and the community at large. College counseling centers struggle to accommodate the number of students seeking mental health services today. For the last decade, the leading problem among college students has been anxiety, including social anxiety. Studies indicate that group counseling is a practical solution to address these concerns. This mixed methods replication study explored the use of the Creative Exposure Intervention – Group Version (CEI-GV) with social anxiety. Specifically, this study looked at levels of anxiety, depression, and secondary stress within this population. This dissertation research study was designed to contribute to the growing body of academic knowledge regarding the increase in acquisition activity (Capps, Dranove, & Ody, 2018) and the annual increase in the cost of health insurance premiums for small to middle size businesses (Camilleri, 2018; Cowley, 2004; D’Arrigo, 2019; Guo & Tao, 2015). This quantitative study examined academic achievement of seventh grade students from a local school district in Cincinnati, OH. Academic achievement and physical activity are both of importance and beneficial to an individual. Specifically, the purpose of this study was to determine whether students who are participating in school-based physical education (P.E.) courses exhibited higher academic achievements. Objective: Millions of grandparents in the United States provide full-time care to grandchildren. Although their actions are largely altruistic, they do not come without sacrifice. Often these sacrifices are associated with major consequences. Little is known about how grandparents prioritize their sacrifices. An improved understanding of how grandparents prioritize their sacrifices could facilitate better awareness, more specialized care, and improved policies for this population. Method: I used Q methodology to investigate grandparents’ perspectives on the sacrifices that they make to raise their grandchildren. This study examined if professional and/or personal contact with individuals with IDD impacts counselors’ attitudes.
