China Training Institute was founded in 1910 by Dr. Harry W. Miller, who introduced a work-study program according to the Adventist philosophy of education advocated by Ellen White, a founder of the Church. When D. E. The separation of protein mixtures via pH-parametric pumping was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. A simple system consisting of one column packed either with cation or anion exchanger was first considered. A system of parapumps was then developed with more columns which were connected in series and packed alternately with cation and anion exchangers. Various methods of operation of parapumps are discussed. Enrichment and spliting of protein mixtures were examined. In most cases, the separation factor was defined at a steady state condition and was improved by increasing the number of cycles and columns.

The differential staining of chromosomes with the use of 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BUdR) was discovered in 1972. Since then, the BUdR technique has been modified and improved. It is used to study cellular kinetics; yet its most extensive use today is focused on studying sister chromatid exchange (SCE). Studies show that the frequency of SCEs increases significantly in the presence of mutagenic and carcinogenic agents. Hence, the BUdR technique (commonly referred to as the SCE technique) has been useful as a diagnostic tool to test for mutagenic anc carcinogenic agents.

The present studies examined the effects of acute and chronic administrations of phenytoin on the responding of pigeons and rats maintained under fixed-ratio, fixed-interval, and interresponse-time-greater-than-t schedules of food reinforcement. These schedules typically engender different rates and temporal patterns of responding and are often differentially affected by drugs. The results indicated that phenytoin, given acutely, produced dose-dependent decreases in the response rate of rats and pigeons maintained under fixed-ratio and fixed-interval schedules. Response rates under the fixed-interval and inter response-time-greater-than-t schedules were little affected by the drug. A degree of tolerance was observed to phenytoin's rate-decreasing effects when the drug …

An understanding of a microbial reduction of the anthracycline antibiotic, steffimycin (1) was approached from two directions. First, the NADH-dependent enzyme responsible for the reduction was purified from the Streptomyces steffisburgensis cytosol and characterized. Second, information was obtained on the reduction and oxidation of 1.

The enzyme was a single polypeptide chain, acidic, and stable in solution. It had a molecular weight of 80,000 and no prosthetic groups.

The 5-step purification process resulted in greater than 1,000-fold purification and a 9% yield of the homogenous enzyme from extracts of S. steffisburgensis cells.

The purpose of this investigation was to provide evidence for the proposition that when positive attitudes exist between the parties of the collective bargaining process labor peace exists.

Data were generated using the Walton and McKersie Attitude Structuring Model. The instrument used was a questionnaire prepared by Crandall (1976). Two-way ANOVA techniques were employed. Districts were designated by type of labor peace using criteria adopted from the Golden Studies of 1955. The sample population consisted of 30 school districts with 153 administrators, teachers, and board members responding to the instrument.

The focus of this study was the tenability of the underlying assumption of Model A, the norm-referenced model, of the Title I Evaluation and Reporting System (TIERS). Model A estimates the no-treatment expectation from normative data. The assumption made by the Model is that, in the absence of special treatment, student groups maintain a constant percentile position in relation to national norms.

This study investigated the relationship between knowledge of teamwork, performance, and satisfaction in members of human service teams. Team Knowledge was conceptualized as encompassing four critical areas: Personal-Interpersonal, Team Environment, Team Leadership, and Team Processing.

Research findings in the literature point to certain general benefits of the team model.
